Buick - 2 course system

The two course system is producing some very funny first versus second round scores:

Palmer 76 62
Maruyama 72 65
Olazabal 74 64
Levet 65 73
Goggin 73 66
Lehman 74 66
Couples 74 66
Perez 75 67
Dickerson 76 66
Mayfair 67 75
Byrd 67 75
Lewis 76 67
Kelly 66 78
Byrum 67 77
Immelman 76 68
Ames 77 67
Choi 68 77
Leaney 78 67
Miller 68 77
Chambers 68 78
Hart 80 68
Hietala 82 72

The 2 course system really does make for a changing scoreboard.

The higher scores are probably from the tougher South Course and the others from the easier North course. I think it is an advantage to tee off first on the North course.

You saw the same thing last week at the Bob Hope Chysler Classic. On Thursday the wind kick up and on the new Classic Club course, designed by Arnold Palmer scores were noticeably higher.

Just curious will they be playing both courses on the weekend? If so, which one on Saturday and which one on Sunday?

The more difficult South Course should be where the final two rounds are played?

Thanks!

It's also notable who missed the cut:

Jason Gore - He's REALLY struggled so far this year. His first round 69 was the only round so far this year he's shoot under 70 and this is his third consecutive missed cut. I can't help but wonder if he's spend too much time being the PGA Tour's new "darling" and not enough working on his game.

Ryan Moore - Last year he showed flashes of potential brilliance mixed with bouts of inconsistency. This week makes his second missed cut in as many tournaments he's played on 2006. Not exactly the start he, or many of his fans were hoping for.

Todd Hamilton - Was his British Open win a flash in the pan? He didn't play well last year and it's carried over so far this year with three missed cuts so far.

Sean O'Hair - Last year's Rookie of the Year is in a sophomore slump so far in 2006. Four missed cuts and only one round below 70.

Both weekend rounds are most definitely on the South Course, as has been the tradition for the past several years. Hence, a score of 68 will move you well up the board and -14 could easily win the event. The low round of the first two days on the South was 67, and it won't get any easier on the weekend.
