Bingo. The best players from all over the world play events on the PGA Tour. This is where the big $$$ is.
The best players from all over the world still get to play on their respective Ryder Cup teams provided they earn enough points to do so, or are captain's picks.
Where the Ryder Cup point system is concerned, I think it's pretty dumb that players don't get points if they're not playing on their "home" tours. If Goosen wins a U.S. event, why shouldn't he get points towards making the International Team? He's just beaten the world's best, after all.
The International players are picked by world rankings based on PGA and nonPGA events they play.
funny you say that when the US have lost the last 2 ryder cups and since 1985 Euope has won 5 to the USA's 3. And the european guys play both tours.
Funny you say that, since it's becoming increasingly apparent that the pro-European crowd still hasn't figured out that the TEAM Ryder Cup records have NOTHING to do with individual talent or success on any tour.

I'm not one to bash the Euros, as there are a lot of fine golfers on that tour. But let's face it, the only reason they gloat about the Ryder Cup is that it's the only real success they have. They can win Ryder cups, but majors seem to give them fits! Consider the last 15 years majors, and where the winners came from. By the way, if I'm wrong about any of these, I'm sorry. I looked up the list of winners for each major, and when necessary looked up the player to see which country claims him.
Majors won by Europeans in last 15 years :
(British) Open Championship: 3
Masters: 5
U.S. Open Championship: 0
PGA Championship: 0
Majors won by Americans in last 15 years :
(British) Open Championship: 9
Masters: 8
U.S. Open Championship: 10
PGA Championship: 10
A 37 to 8 difference. Over 4 times the amount of individual achievement. Truly, the best come HERE to play, and the best to play come FROM here.

Your right the Euro's must have the best players.... I thought Jose-****-Olazabul was going to win last weekend against Tiger...but you know how tough those pesky 3 footers can be.

Reason: Inappropriate Comment
Not only did Michael know the consequences of his 2003 actions but when he asked for a "favor" after his Major win, the PGA would have reinstated him early if he now agreed to abide by the rules. He won't so it's not the PGA Tour dissing him.....it's totally his choice. Therefore, I see no reason for him or any of his supporters to have a problem with the situation.
After reading the story I have to agree with you. As tough as it was for him at that time he should have known the consequences of his decision.
It sounds like he was under a lot of stress between not playing well, not really having a home in the U.S. and having his family with him. It sounds like he just got frustrated and left. I'm sure if he was feeling stressed and pressured it factored into his decision process.
Let's face it we all at one time or another have made bad decisions when we are stressed.

Thing is funnily enough - at least he made it that far. I doubt whether you would be able to compete at that level. I would think that Tiger may have possibly missed a 3 footer once or twice.
I never said that Europe had the best players, but apart from a couple of players I think the better players are those that test themselves everywhere - not just the US - that's why I think players should be able to play both tours without restrictions being put in place.
And since I come from NZ there is no reason I would 'gloat' about the ryder cup wins.
I never said that Campbell should be given special treatment, and I think he should just stick to the European Tour personally - it isn't as if he needs the money from US tournaments. The fact is most of the major tournaments are there so if you want to do well you pretty much have to play on the US type courses.
About the 3 footers...Tiger was the only player on tour last year not to miss a putt inside of 3 feet...so pros DO miss those on occasion. Jose Maria just yanked his putt at an inopportune time.
