Hopefully Ben Crane is really working on this problem he has. Goodness knows the PGA has been after him enough about it.
I've never gotten to play a 7000+ yard course, and don't know how fast I would play it, but I still can't see a 6 hour round... I get upset if 9 takes longer than 2 hours unless we've got a friend of ours who is disabled with us. Then time isn't an issue. His getting to play is.

A 7000+ course for them is no different that a 6000+ course for us. Then consider that they never have to look for a ball either.
Personally, I am tired of hearing about Ben and his slow play. Every single time they show him hit a shot or take a putt, the announcers mention it. "He's been working on it, he knows it's a problem. I think it's great that he understands that he needs to work on it." ENOUGH ALREADY, I get it. He plays slow.
It's just like every time they show Pat Perez they have to mention that he has the reputation of having a bad temper.
These guys have the reputations they have because the announcers won't get off it.

I'll agree with your Pat Perez comment, they should let that go. But Ben Crane IS slow. It has nothing to do with the announcers, he is just as slow as a turtle. I turn the channel when they show him about to hit a shot.

If our group never had to look for a ball, we'd be finished in just a bit more than three hours, no question; and we're really not particularly fast.
I have played at courses where the rangers actually make a point of positioning themselves in places where errant drives are likely to go so that they can spot them for the groups on the tee. These courses speed up play and build good will for their rangers too.
