It was on from 11am -1pm today. I happened to catch it while I was on the treadmill or I most likely would have missed it. Wound up being glad I didn't miss it. ^^
I wasn't sure if I should give spoilers when I posted the first time. But yeah, she was something winning in the playoff. It was nice to see someone actually win a playoff instead of just outlasting others. She made a nice really putt to take home the trophy. I know a win is a win.. yada yada... still, it was good to see.
Youngest winner in a ladies pro event. But, hey, who cares, it's not men, right? Smells like a locker room in here.
It seems that the men get all the attention in golf. But I guess that's just the way it is. I dunno, but I'd rather watch the women anyday. They seem to have a lot more fun out there and it's just more enjoyable to watch. At least for me.
Well done to her for winning the event, which is a great achievement, but it is important to note that it is a long way from winning on the lpga.
Some of her team are a bit over zealous in their praise of her. Here is a quote:
Shane Stevenson, who heads the school's golf program which Yang joined 14 months ago after arriving from Korea, said his star student "can go as far she wants to go".
"Amy will probably get invites to the US Open this year," he said.
"She is now the new Michelle Wie. She will be every bit as good . . . and probably hits the ball longer off the tee. Amy hits it probably as far as most male professionals, and she really has the world at her feet."
She hits it longer off the tee than Michelle Wie? Doubt it.
She can hit it as far as most male professionals? Doubt it.
She will be as every bit as good as Michelle? When.
For the people who actually watched it, does she actually hit it that far?
Maybe she does, and if she hits it as far, and is that good of a player, then I will certainly be trying to catch her playing some events, because she is certainly a big prospect, not only for lpga, but also pga success.
I'm a bit sceptical about the truth of the statements though.

I'm not sure exactly. One time she hit it 270m, I think. They said it was 240m to the bunker and she hit it past. I think they said it was probably 270m. It didn't seem like she was outdriving the others that much. Sorry I can't remember exactly, I wasn't really paying attention to the distance stuff. I never do

From what I saw, She hits it long but I think she is at least 20 yards shorter than wie right now. She was 8th longest player in the field. Also her coach will be first one to admit she has long way to go before reaching skill level of wie.
My opinion is she is still unpolished player despite her win but has tremendous upside considering how fast she improved in last 14 month. She was built like running back and can get longer if she can improve her technique. Unlike wie she relys on her strong leg and arm to generate power and wasn"t effectively using her whole body but tempo was great.
She will remind people young Se Ri Pak with her powerful body and tempo.
Certainly she doesn't have shotmaking skill of wie but no women player has wie's shotmaking skill either.
