Probably plays a part, but he's had a little bit of success there to say that he can't hate the greens THAT badly.

OT a bit. A comedian of whatever ethnic group, who can only do jokes about their ethnicity, is an immediate channel-switcher for me. Lopez has sure gotten a lot more mileage than most.

You're just jealous that your ethnicity isn't as funny as their ethnicities!

What did he go to Dubai for then. That course was full of hackers.

Man, life is tough for Tiger........I mean honestly, how can anybody put up with having to play golf for a living. Especially at Pebble Beach, Spyglass & Poppy hills for like a million dollars. I guess regular golf, with normal people on some of the worlds greatest courses does not appeal to him and some others anymore.

Mind you if I had his bank account I would probably have a lot different view on things in general. Can't Tiger Woods wipe out world hunger yet?

Does this mean he is going to skip the 2010 U.S. Open?

getting paid just 3 million to show up, then winning what 400,000 more, and also add in his endorsement deals and bonuses for winning a tournament, and im sure he made anywhere from 4-5 million in one weekend.....

I would hope to make that in a lifetime....

Pebble Beach is actually one of his favorite courses, right after St. Andrews (according to him in his 3 DVD set). I remember him saying something about the greens are not in good condition after so many people walk all over them in this Pro-Am. (It earned him a "Crybaby of the Week" in local news) He'll be there for the US Open.

The AT&T's 180-pro, 180-am format is outrageously oversized, even for three venues. Justification comes by way of the $10,000 amateur entry fee -- a cool $1.8 million in tournament revenue. Some celebrities barter their entertainment skills for a spot, but one reason the AT&T has become such a corporate picnic is because the CEOs and company presidents can't fork over the 10 grand fast enough.

To give more recent info about the cost for an amateur to play:
Quote:
The price tag for the coveted amateur invitations increased from $9,500 the past three years to $12,800 this year.
Info dated 2-8-06, from:
http://www.golfdigest.ie/features/in...lebrities.html

Interesting little story there about Dreesen vs. Quaid, I thought.
(Granted, it's not exactly Watson vs. Nicklaus in The Duel in the Sun.)
