Americans Dominating European Tour

Tiger, DiMarco, and now Kevin Stadler, have won three of the last four European Tour events. those Americans! Can't they just stay home and play on their own made for Americans Tour? Did they have to dust off their passports and show the rest of the world exactly why golf in America is dominating the world golf scene?

Maybe if we kept our guys home we'd only have to listen to the rest of the world whine about the PGA Tour instead of giving our Euro friends something else to cry about. It's a pretty sad state of affairs for European Tour golf when an American Nationwide Tour player cleans up in the Euro's own Tour.

I'd say we Americans just can't win. We're chastised for not traveling the world to promote golf and snootily scolded for having the gall to provide the best of everything professional golf has to offer right here in America, which, in turn, absolutely forces the world's best players to play here.

It's really tough being an American golf fan these days.

Droogy probably has it right but what the heck....We are fortunate in the states to have a college golf system that basically adopts our best talent and affords them coaching, constant sponsored competition and pays most of the freight. I played College golf and got the benefits of that system that is only found here in the United States. That support structure was not available to Bernard Langer, Gary Player, Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros etc. I lived in Germany when Ballesteros and Langer were kids breaking into the European tour. I played one event (German Open) and was paired with guys from the U.K. that had sponsors like "Bob's plumbing" on their bags. 3 of them arrived in a VW micro bus that they lived in while driving from one tournament to the next.

Lets give these foreign guys a break and wish them well. Their road to the top is often a heck of a lot harder than ours. The game I was taught by my father didn't really pay much attention to nationality, race, economic situation etc. Hitting the little white ball was the only thing that counted.

What utter drivel... only the forum rules prevent me from using the Anglo Saxon so refined by Americans...think Eddie Murphy if you need to!

League,

After 7,260 attempts ,you finally got it right. This is the funniest post I have read in the last year.

I think it is marvelous that Americans are leaving their comfort zone to play overseas, and if they have to win to come back so be it. Tiger and Di MArco were not unexpected wins. Stadler is. The early season events down under are poorly supported by Europeans ,it is further way for them than Americans. Stadler seems to be streaky , and when he is hot, he hangs in there to win, good luck to him.

Leaguegolf, I presume you are kidding. If not I hope your golf swing isnt too affected by that huge chip on your shoulder. Lefty is right, its great to see the PGA Tour players (Americans or otherwise) playing the Euro tour and you would expect Woods and Di Marco as World top 10 players to be winning these events.

I believe he's kidding.

Seriously, I think it's great that golfers from both sides of the pond are "expanding the borders" as it were.

Slainte!

He is kidding ,with a huge amount of relish and fries on the side.

Di MArco and Woods should come over and expect to win, same way Harrington,Clarke and Donald should go to USA and expect to win.

Stadler had a 'Curtis/Hamilton' tournament that will either spring him onto better things or be the highlight in a short career.

One bid difference between the UK and US is that the US looks at Sport as a Career and has the college system ( a system I envy here in the UK). The UK looks at Sport as a Passtime and you hear alot of "OK you play off +4 at golf, have represented England at Footbal, Cricket, and Tennis but look you are only 15, get your education first then have a go at Sport".

The huge investment in sports at US colleges is difficult to imagine elsewhere

With the all the "chips" on leaguegolf's and Lefty's shoulders, I'd like to find some sour cream and onion dip!

Other Tours make American golfers welcome and the crowds enjoy their fine play.

Does USA reciprocate?

In Lefty's case, he would have a "crisp" on his shoulder...

It seems everyone but our ever cranky South African friend got the tongue in cheek point of my post. I just figured I'd beat Lefty to the punch before the Euros starting winning PGA Tour events this year.

Every time Lefty or I lose that chip on our shoulders one of us manages to put it right back on the other's shoulder! I thought it was my new driver that cured my slice but after considering Hot Irish's suggestion that the huge chip on my shoulder may be affecting my golf swing......I believe he's right! Thanks for the tip!
I know I can count on my friend Lefty to continue to keep that chip, and my golf swing, in good order! Just hold the vinegar.......I prefer ketchup!

For a certain South African, and those very few of you that may side with Lefty........
try a little of this American made ketchup!..... ......

Sadly ,Ollie,Luke Donald and Brian Davis seem scared of winning ,but we should see some Euros winning something soon...... I'll let you know when it happens.
