They'd have to get some serious money behind it, to interest any of the stars. The prospect of injury might keep some guys away. One guy winning all of the time (Holmes ?) would kill interest. I think it's probably a non-starter. I'd watch, though.
It would be fun to see this, maybe even a skills challenge after he Pro-Am on Wednesday. But some serious cash prizes would be necessary to get the players out there. Having played with Bubba in Pensacola a few years ago (before he turned pro), I can tell you he was impossibly long then. Another Pensacola pro, Bo Weekly, who played a year on the Pga Tour, made a hole in one on a par 5 at a nearby course. None of this distance has rubbed off on me. Not one little, lousy yard. (Sound of old man sobbing quietly.)
Yeah, it would really have to have a big purse for the winner. Also not everyone is all for distance. Some go for accuracy. Holmes was mentioned above and said that he would win all the time. Tiger can hit far when he wants or needs to but I think Bubba would steal the show.
"I'm As Long As Anybody, But When I Play, Somebody Always Seems to Put Cellophane Over the #@$@%$$@ Hole" (Hank Keuhne, Scott Hend, Scott Gutschewski).
For one thing, $1,000 to the winner won't be nearly enough. Nowadays guys can earn that much clearing one nostril into a logo-embroidered hankie.
