Tucson, the Non-Exempt Players Major Event

The Tucson Open may be the biggest event of the year for many of the non-exempt players. The first reshuffling of the q-school and Nationwide tour graduates happens after this event. Those who aren't performing well (i.e. Stephen Bowditch) face the daunting prospect of not playing until after the Masters (Houston Open). The only tournaments these players have a chance of playing until Houston are Honda and Atlanta (Atlanta best chance).

The second reshuffle is right after the Masters. Between the Masters and U.S. Open, those doing poorly can only assure themselves of playing at Houston, New Orleans, and Memphis.

It's almost as bad as q-school at Tucson.

Yep, Tucson is a golden opportunity for many. Most of these guys will have to be content getting into some Nationwide TOUR events during April-June, just to keep their "skills" honed and bank accounts active.

But there is always July and September to look forward to. Plenty of minor events for the chronic strugglers.

Fopr example, Stephen Bowditch may face the humbling prospect of playing fewer events from Doral until the U.S. Open than he did on the entire West Coast swing.

I don't kniow if this guy has completely lost his self confidence or there is something wrong with his swing but it's almost like he's a completely different player than he was on the Nationwide Tour last year.

In fact he may NEED to take some time off to find his game and get some self confidence.
