A healthy David Duval would be one of the best surprises for 2006. He is not a great showman by any means, but it would add another player to compete with Tiger on weekends. He has the game to do so, when he is on.
If he can keep improving, he could be the missing piece that the US Ryder Cup Team could use. I guess I am just hopeful, he can turn it around.
I think you are being hopeful.. He had a 68 yesterday, and is -2 today, so not too shabby. He has a lot of work ahead of him and a lot of players to pass to be considered for the Ryder Cup. I hope he does well this season, but its a long shot.
I hope Duval can get back to the top where he once was but right now thats wishful thinking. David wont be challenging Tiger anytime soon. Lets concentrate on him keeping his card for next year first huh.
I would love to see him return to his former skill level. One of my friends played with him years ago and thinks his troubles came when his body changed from "round guy" to "fit strong pro." Having gone the other way (but amateur, not pro), I can tell you that its a big change that can wreck your swing.

He won the British Open as a "fit strong pro" so I'm not sure that was his problem.
I think Duvals current world ranking is 438th. Ryder Cup and Duval shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence at the moment. I wish him all the best, but he has a long way to go. All though I will give him this. He has all ready made more cuts this year then he did in the entire 2005 season. So he maybe heading in the right direction, but Ryder Cup....Not this time around.

Or at least not having to use the top 25/50 career money option to be exempt for 2007.
Not trying to get off topic here but speaking of people making come backs has any of you seen recent pictures of Corey Pavin? I saw a artical about him in PGA Partners and didn't even reconize him. Shaved head and no mustache. Dosen't even look like him. But says he's playing on the Ryder cup this year.
DD was my fave player until he disappeared. I just loved to see a golfer make a flawed swing work so darned well, it gave me great confidence in what can be achieved.
I hope David has a strong 06' if not a win. I played with him in HI in 2002 and he is a very nice person. he deserves a little good mojo to start up again.

It's a postive sign that he's making cuts and lets hope he's able to build upon that. And yes, I have to agree right now it's a stretch to consider him a Ryder Cup team contender. At this stage let's just hope David can play well enough to earn a top 125 exemption for next season.
