In all of Tom Watson's career on the PGA and Champions Tour, he has never won in Florida. Tom turned pro in 1971 and won 39 times on the PGA Tour including 8 majors and 8 times on the Champions Tour.
Maybe the weather is too nice for him. He plays best in terrible weather. He grew up and learned to play golf in Kansas. He always practiced in the worst weather with the thought that tournament golf is played in all conditions. That's probably why he won 6 British opens. He known for excelling in horrible conditions. i don't know if that's why he never won in sunny Florida but it could be a factor. The fact that he never won in Florida is a very interesting statistic.
Gee, you'd think that if he could play so well across the pond, he could play in Florida, too. I live in the panhandle of FL and there is wind all the time here (and a time or two a year, it blows way too hard). Are there any anomolies like this in the records of other top players, past or present?

Sam Snead never won the US Open. Arnie never won the PGA. Those are the two most famous "never wons" among past players that I know of. A Google search told me that Nicklaus never won the Canadian Open (finished 2nd seven times).
That's very surprising considering how many times he likely played in Florida. As for him playing well in poor conditions, Florida has it's share of those, even though it's usually warm.
I'm not from the USA, so not sure what it is that makes this fact interesting?
Given that there are 50 something states in th USA and he only won 39 tournaments (at least 6 of which were in Britain) I would assume there is a handful of other US states he hasnt won in too.

There are exactly 50 states in the USA, Fairbread, and without knowing how many tournaments you've won elsewhere I couldn't say whether your lack of success in Florida is interesting or not. There are only about a dozen-15 states that host events every year and even fewer that host multiple events (4 or 5) Florida is one of those states. It hosts(hosted) 3-4 events every year. California is the only state that hosts more. The fact that one of the best golfers ever never won one of them out of the 50 or so he played there is interesting to me.

Well he won a couple of them in neighboring GA that I don't think he would trade for ANYTHING played in Florida!
Does it have anything to do with Bermuda Greens? You know GA green isn't bermuda.. Watson had his share of problems with short putting and Bermuda doesn't make short putting any easier..

Actually Bermuda is the prevalent grass in GA , and the 2 GA titles I referred to were the Masters , both of which he won before the National converted to bentgrass greens . Back when Tom won , they were Bermuda greens overseeded with rye grass. Tom's short putting problems cropped up later in his career anyway - at his peak when he was winning majors no one putted better.

Interesting, but I must say that Mr. Watson would have a hard time finding this fact to be any fun.
