1. Would he even bother to play in that match?

Have you ever seen him not give his best effort?

Harrington had to feel sick when DL3 holed from 100+ yards on 18.

Too bad we have so many viewers and luke-warm golf fans who care only about Tiger, Phil, Vijay and Ernie. But I suppose the networks have brought this upon themselves, to a certain degree.

Agreed!!! I only want to watch the top guys. Zero interest in most of the others.

Not at all!!!

You can go watch Ben Curtis and Steve Ames go duke it out

Lets face it, if a star is not in the hunt, golf on TV is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

I think Love probably thought "There is no way I'm going to watch this guy spend another 10 minutes lining up another putt, let me put him out of his misery".

Harrington is slower than Glen Day.

Generally, Harrington is not a slow player at all, but there was quite a lot a stake in his match against DV3, so I think we can excuse him if he chooses to make sure he is 100% happy with lining up a putt before he hits hit.

Harrington isn't a slow player? He's valedictorian of the Ben Crane School of Golf. When snail paced Nick Faldo calls Padraig "deliberate," you know he's slooooow.

Vijay also mentioned about Harrington's slow play, saying that it threw off his rythym.

I think Paddy's ultimate goal is to see if he can still putt while doing a split...his putting stance alone is enough to drive me nuts.

I agree with you there, it is a bit bizarre! Howell and Stenson also putt like that.

What makes watching a "star" that much better than the other pros? Any true fan of the sport will find something interesting in the match at hand. Maybe you're enamored with something about the "star" besides their playing ability? Is it Tiger's fashion sense? Phil's new curly locks sticking out of his cap? Sergio's and VJ's little beards?

I enjoy watching Tiger, Els, Phil, VJ, etc. play, and I also like watching the other guys like Campbell, Furyk, Love, Harrington, Monty, Bubba, Toms, Daly, Olazabel, Donald, Scott, Weir, Ames, etc. I also enjoy the Champion's Tour. Shoot, I even enjoyed watching the LPGA yesterday, with the 2 Korean ladies in a playoff. I knew Lee would win!

I see techniques and strategies I may be able to use from all of them. I enjoy watching professional golf for golf's sake, not just because someone special is playing. To me, if they made the professional ranks, they are special enough to watch!

Davis just missed a near-gimme that woulda put him 2 UP here...ouch. I'm still rooting for Davis.

BTW, I'd love a chance to see the best of the best go at it in the finals sometime, a Woods vs. Singh or Mickelson or Els vs. Goosen or Garcia, but that's the nature of match play. Anything can happen. Still a very good event, and has been producing solid winners the last few years after a shaky start. Love III or Ogilvy will be no different.

Turns out that was a pretty big miss there...Davis made a mess on 15 and Ogilvy won #16 with a birdie, now leads 1 UP after the first 18. Should be a good final 18 holes, wish I could watch it.
