Vijay also mentioned about Harrington's slow play, saying that it threw off his rythym.
In matchplay throwing your opponent off his rythym is part of the strategy. Harrington said that he didn't feel on top of his game. He came back after being down in both the VJ and DL3 games, and in the end it was unlucky the way he lost.
Looks weird, but is based on sound theory - Harrington has putted a lot better since taking that stance.
All I can say is that, the putting stance of David Howell helped shave few strokes off my game. One can say the same thing about Jim Furyks swing. It's what works for each player that counts at the end of the day.
So, of all the players involved, I wonder who ended up with however many world ranking points in this event?
It was the strongest field of the year so far, but with (imo... ) the most unfair awarding of world ranking points that we`ll see for the rest of this year!
In the hopes that Harrington would change his game to suit his opponent?
I followed Harrington, Damron & Funk a couple years ago at Avenel. While Padraig walks fast and certainly isn't a slow moving person, he does look at at ALL the angles and carfully surmise his shot BEFORE he gets on with it. At addressal he doesn't freeze up or become a statue, it's all preparedness and thought process. His caddy is a grisled vet - very serious, protective and not at all shy about getting the crowd to behave. They are interesting to follow. It's not like they're just standing around, there is much discussion and activity to watch.
It's also enlightening to watch how their playing partners handle it. Damron and Funk are both fast players but only Damron was uncomfortable with the pace. Funk just passed the time jawing with his caddy, the crowd and Padraig while they walked the fairways. Funk and Padraig ended up paired together all four rounds..... a very unusual occurrence.
Singh had issues with Harrington? Well, think about who Vijay likes to play with - John Daly. JD is the polar opposite of Harrington so it's not surprising Singh didn't care for all of the fussing, fretting and calibrating.

Is anyone besides me starting to get a little tired of VJ complaining about every little thing? Whether it's this guy's spikes, the other guy's driver, Harrington's pace of play...

No, Vijay did not say it in the hopes that Harrington would change his game. It was in the post match interview. He probably should not have said it, it came across as though he was making an excuse.
