As the No. 64 seed, Ames drew Tiger Woods as his opponent in the first round Wednesday. Here is Ames quote.
“Anything can happen,” Ames said, breaking into a smile.
“Especially where he’s (Tiger) hitting the ball.”
Ouch.....to make it being #64 and then talking smack to the #1 golfer in the world? My guess is that Ames is toast. Talking trash to Tiger is like giving him 5 strokes.
Ames has a little bit of a cocky streak in him, so that doesn't surprise me. I still recall Michael Campbell saying some things about him at one time (2000 musta been?) before taking on Tiger in the Matchplay. Record has it, Tiger walked up to him in the first tee, shook his hand, and said "You wanted a piece of me? Well now you've got me. " Tiger won that match 5&4 I believe. Nothing's for certain, but giving Tiger bulletin board material might not be the best idea.
Anything can happen yes - Last year he lost to O' Hern for example.
Tigers ball is all over at the moment. But wasnt it still all over when he regained the number one in the world spot and won the masters and British open not to mention countless other tournements. Tiger's won 2 of the last 3 tourneys hes entered, Not bad for someone whos hitting it so offline.
Stephen who?

Yep Tigers driver problem is because he keeps changing his shafts. Everytime he goes back to his Diamana he hit it just fine. Still cocky or not Ames is toast.
Well, Tiger with another birdie to go 6 UP through 6 holes. I'm guessing Tiger's next opponent won't make the same mistake as Ames. In fact, I would think the best way to beat Tiger would be to praise him a ton and use reverse psychology so that he's not fired up to beat you.

I just wish Tiger would use the same driver and shaft he had at last years WGC NEC Invitational at Firestone. I just got finished watching tape of his final 2 rounds and he really drove the ball well.

Ameszy, Ameszy, Ameszy. Some people never learn. Tiger's just like Jordan. Don't make him mad. Or the Incredible Hulk. Don't make Hulk angry. You won't like Hulk when Hulk angry.
I remember a game where Dikembe Motumbo talked trash to MJ. He said MJ wouldn't dunk on him. Not only did MJ dunk OVER him. When MJ also drew the foul, he stood at the line, pointed at Motumbo, and said "This is for you". He then drained the freethrow with his eyes closed.

Kill 'em with kindness.
Yeah, MJ also did Mutumbo's famous finger-wag at Dikembe after that dunk. I think Jordan got T'd up for it, but he definitely got his message across to Mutumbo. What's that line in Scarface?
"You mess with Tony Montana, you mess with the best!"
Or this one: "Say hello to my little friend!" In Tiger's case, his little friend isn't an oozie, but rather a birdie machine gun.
