What I understand is why Ames would make the comment he made. when asked about his match with Woods beforehand. he responded by saying anything can happen especially were woods is driving it lately. Why call out the number 1 player before tha match. That may have been one of the stupidiest comments ever made by a #64 seed.

Steven Ames's unfounded cockiness is in no way an indicator of the way most Canadians do business, namely BKG and myself, who are YGs... if that makes sense... Basically, OGs are going down!

I didn't think it was such a bad statement for Ames to point out, somewhat accurately, that Tiger isn't driving the ball overly straight.

But if I'm next on Tiger's schedule I would stick with "No comment" or "I'm researching if Tiger is divine".

He drove it straight up Ames behind yesterday though didn't he!

It appears that Robert Allenby isn't much smarter than Ames. He reportedly commented that he wouldn't get beat 9 & 8 and that Ames had to have played extremely poorly to lose by such a margin. Allenby apparently didn't know that Tiger made 7 birdies in 10 holes. I expect Mr. Allenby will be joining Ames at the proctologist's office later today.

When Tiger was asked if Ames comments "fired him up" he replied,

"Sure they did."

When asked what his reaction to those comments were, Tiger grinned and said,

"9 & 8."

I think, in the future, Ames will be keeping his thoughts on Tiger to himself!

Is it me or is Stephen Ames the long lost twin of the actor Powers Boothe?

Tiger is in "Smackdown Mode"

I'd hate to be the guy making snide comments about his game, and then having a match against him. Micheal Campbell did something similar a couple of years ago and Tiger walk up to him before the first tee and basically said "You want me now and got me" and proceeded to annhilate on the course

I may be wrong but I sense a "Take No Prisoners" attitude in Tiger with regards to match play.

I think it is great he said the. The drama is sweet. Tiger destroyed him. Mind you, Ames could have at least made a birdie on the front nine. Gotta step it up if you wanna compete with that Tiger Woods guy. I haven't seen anybody try to call Tiger out since Vijay's caddie wore that stupid hat.
Tiger Woods=unstoppable. A champion of this magnitude does not need any more encouragement to slaughter people on a golf course.

Ames should have told the press that he already had his flight booked for Wednesday night.

Bah, I was pulling for Allenby. Tiger wins despite going 2 down after the first 2 holes.
