I'll second that. Just don't even watch golf if you're only watching it to see if Tiger gets the win. If you love the game it doesn't matter who's playing on Sunday.
Well I've been watching golf on a weekly basis since long before you or Tiger were born, but today's matches were less exiting than watching paint dry.
Nobody loves the game any more than I do but I'm sorry.........today was just boring to watch. No drama, the golf was only so-so (for the quality of the players involved) and the best swing I saw all day was when mild mannered Tom Lehman two fisted his wedge into his golf bag. I swear it was the only swing in either match that had any emotion behind it.

If you love the game you'll be out playing on Sunday...

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't find it boring. I like to watch Davis play. So much power and so effortless.

Hey deron, why don't those of us who enjoy watching golf chip in and buy a gallon of Sherwin-Williams for the guys in Michigan who prefer watching paint dry? Maybe there should be a "Paint Rewind" for them to discuss how exciting that last coat was!

I haven't played on a Sunday in years or Saturday either, for that matter. I'll stick with playing early afternoons during the week with the reduced crowds and rates, thanks.

I tried guys... I really did, but the only drama involved was who was going to nod off first , me or DL3 ?
I personally love match play golf; I'll probably watch. Then again, I watched Tuscon, the ladies, the match play and the Senior's yesterday. :)
Well I didn't watch as much golf as your yesterday.
I did watch the WGC match play final, went to the driving range (It was about 60 degrees and sunny in the Dallas area Sunday )and caught the final round of the Tucson Open.
How about Kurt Trippett? Shooting a 63 to totally blow by everybody and win.
What? Someone who wasn't good enough to play in the WGC shot a 63? Oh, the PGA must be horrified!! *end sarcasm*
I think Triplett did a great job. Proof, yet again, that those "guys are good."

Sure they are...........just not good enough to be in the top 64!
Match-Play is great to play and good to watch when it is a team event - Ryder Cup, Walker Cup or Presidents Cup etc.
But to televise a Match-play Tournament is not great telly, you can't know when/where a match will end (extra holes).
Years ago in the UK they came up with the "Piccadilly Medal" to go with the "Piccadilly World Match Play".
The "Medal" was played like a Match-play event but the winner of each match was the one that shot the lowest score for that round meaning all matches went to the 18th at least. It all ended when a Tour Star shot 66 to a 65 and lost while an unknown shot 80 and still won his match. That Tour Star was also on the committee so it was not a wonder when the "Medal" was dropped from the schedule.

Exactly. When you have multiple matches being played concurrently, match play is terrific viewing. When it comes down to 2 guys on Sunday, it's often going to be somewhat less than riveting. Last Sunday was another example.

Very true. The difficulty with individual match play is guaranteeing you get the players people want to watch in the later rounds. There would be far fewer moans if there had been a Woods-Mickelson final (not a shot at you wazmankg).
Maybe a better way of doing it would be to have round robin leagues, so everyone is in play and on the course. Hard to work out logisitically with a large field, but it might make for more of a spectacle.

That's true, but my central point is that you have 1 match to watch all day and if it isn't competitive or the guys aren't playing especially well you're sunk, as opposed to stroke play where there are generally a number of guys in the mix and possibilities for movement are greater. Admittedly, one bad match involving Tiger, Phil, VJ, Ernie and a handful of others would be more watchable... at least for me.
