Didn't see what you described, waz, but I've been wondering about her, too. Some of it I've been ascribing too teenaged angst, some to her personal life (death of mother, apparent alienation from father), some to the pressure of huge success and attention at an early age.
I'm rooting for her to succeed... and not just on the course. Am predicting it may take a few more years. Hope she has good people around her.
If you read the story it's obvious the Morgan wears her emotions on her sleeve. One can only hope as she matures she learn to taker her dissappointments in stride and moves on.
Just my opinion, but it seems to me that Morgan Pressel is just one of those people who have very active tear ducts! Whenever she is happy or sad, her eyes just overflow! It's not like she was sobbing or unable to talk clearly in the interview.
I don't particularly like her....just a little too stuck on herself for my taste...but I don't think her crying indicates any immaturity or personality problems. She just cries easily. I have a sister who does the same thing. Some of the old Campbell soup commercials made her well up, as does any slightly emotional or sensitive comment or scene.
Pressel is just very 17. Perhaps she is pushing things a little by forgoing college experience and going right into the grind and spotlight of the LPGA Tour. Even some of her interviews revealed the maturity level of a seventeen year old when she spoke of the crisis of her shirts not arriving and blamed it on "grandma." It was kinda cute but I felt embarrassed for her.
This is the real world with grown ups who are ready and willing to take your lunch money if you are not paying attention. There are some hard lessons to be learned on the road even for the most seasoned professional.
I pray Morgan can withstand the pressures that lay ahead, and that she will be able to accept life's challenges with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child.
They don't call them growing joys. They call them growing pains for a reason. Growing up is hard enough without rushing into it. But, nobody could have told me any different when I was 17!
For some reason, I really like Morgan. I like the little bit of cattiness between her and MW.
The thing with the shirts was stupid - not because she forgot them - that kind of stuff happens, but the fact that she had them FedExed to her. Why not just buy shirts at the store wouldn't that be easier?
Anyway - I want Morgan to get at least one win this year.
Morgan Pressel hates to lose, and the frustration of not performing the way she wanted to produced the tears. It's rather refreshing to see someone care enough to cry a little over a loss, although I would hate to see this become a common occurance on the PGA Tour.
I think Donnakay has her pegged correctly as just an especially emotional, sensitive person. I would rather see her cry a little bit than to have a nervous breakdown or to beat up the winner.
What's all of this talk about a weight gain ? She looked about the same to me as she did in the US Open last summer. She's not a skinny girl, but she's hardly overweight. I think that the influx of good looking young women into the LPGA has gone to some of your heads. Some of you guys need to get a grip. They're athletes not models.
Well, having read this thread, I just had to record this event to see for myself how upset Pressel was...and yes it was sad to see the young lady so upset!
Clearly this young lady has a promising future ahead of her, but the work/play balance looks out of kilt for someone so young, or perhaps she was just too over-charged about beating Michelle in her pairing. Anyhow, it was uncomfortable viewing, and to my eyes , a matter of some concern!
What do you mean "there's no cryin in golf?" I've seen Freddie Couples cry after his Shell Open win a couple of years ago and wasn't that Michelle Wie with tears in her eyes after missing the cut at the John Deere last year?
Sports are often emotional experiences for those that pour their heart and soul into their work and golf is no different.

I think you`re oversimplifying the point I made in relation to Pressel tears . Freddie`s tears were those of relief at winning a tournament when he may have doubted his own considerable talents, whereas the cause of Pressel`s tears are harder to determine ...there could be a number of reasons behind them, any one of which is probably a matter of concern...imo

I agree C-B-C. There was no reason for it that I could figure. That's what was so strange and a bit troubling. She played ok. So that shouldn't have been it. She was never really in it so you wouldn't think there would be "so close, yet disappointment" tears and they certainly weren't tears of joy. Just a bit odd.
Despite my concerns about this young lady...I think she looks to be a real find for the LPGA. The coverage of the ladies tour is quite good over here (albeit highlights) ... although the skill level isn`t to the standard of the (U.S) P.G.A Tour, it still makes great viewing !
This new crop of `Tigresses` on tour have a fiery `something` that is sometimes missing on the mens tour imo...it could clearly be seen in the Solheim Cup ! In fact if those ladies played in the Ryder Cup they`d be quite intimidating...
I think that the relatively low prize money of the ladies tour may actually help them become better players, in the long run... as it`s not so easy to merely settle for that financial `comfort zone` that is currently available to the middle ranked players on the mens tour!
