Whatever happened to the weekly "who do you fancy this week" thread? Here's one I guess.
Quite a strong field at Doral starting today - Woods, Singh, Els, Goosen, Mickelson, Garcia, Harrington all tee it up. Will there be another big name duel down the stretch?
Apart from Woods, who does everyone think will go well this week?
My picks:
Sergio
Justin Rose
Joe Ogilvie
Who I would like to say start playing well again: Fredrik Jacobson, seems not to have recovered from just missing out on the last Ryder Cup team.
no probs, just a little £10 each way bet at 1/4 odds ( just over 8/1 for a place ). hes had a few weeks rest including missing the wgc match play, im just hoping he comes back fresh and can give 4 good rounds of golf, although knowing my luck with the horses, snooker and golf betting at the moment, i aint sure of anything lol.
I think it might be DiMarco's week this week. He's been pretty solid this year.

I think Sergio will have a good week as well. If the conditions are calm, I fancy another shootout between Tiger and Phil. Throw in some wind and I think Phil will struggle. I'd love to see 3 or 4 of those top 7 players in attendance on the first page of the leaderboard though.
I just hope this years tournament was as entertaining as last years. Tiger shot an absolutely electrifying third round that included a tee shot on I think the 16th hole that went between trees over water and landed on the green about 370 yards away. I don't think I've ever seen anybody swing so hard at a golf ball.
And the fourth round duel between Tiger and Phil with Phil just barely messing a chip on the 18th was pure golf magic.

So true...take away the majors and that was the most memorable event of last season. A see-saw battle with Tiger eagling 12 on Sunday after the 300+ yard 3 wood and Phil coming back by birdieing 13 and 14, Tiger's bomb on 17 to take the lead and Phil almost canning his chip...anything close to that this year would make this golf fan really happy.

This is already setting up to be an interesting tournament. Tiger is -3 after 4holes. Camillo Villegas, one of the really good young players on tour is the clubhouse leader at -7. There really a nice mix of good young players, veterans i.e. Steve Elkington, and stars in the field. At this rate the cut line could be as low as 5 under. Already there are more than 80 players under par.
Nice leaderboard shaping up. Top 3 players in the world are looking sharp. Tiger's off to a good start. So are Goose and Phil. Vijay's in at -5. Too bad Ernie and Sergio are having bad days. Their games have been a little off the last few weeks. Good to see Toms playing good again.
