Colin Montgomerie is playing in the Bay Hill Invitational, and of course the Players Championship, the following week.
So how about it? Colin's first win in the US. The Masters is just 2 weeks after The Player, so that is 3 chances coming up. I don't know if he is playing in the event between the Players and The Masters.
Anyway, hopefully Monty will be a pga winner, over the next few weeks or so, and maybe even a major winner.
I watched the Playing Lessons with the Pros with him on the Golf Channel a while back and got a completely different impression of the guy than you get from listening to the talking heads and watching golf on TV. He came across very positive, a nice guy, very friendly.
I for one would be happy to see him win a PGA Tour event - just not the Master's. I'm pulling for Tiger there
Maybe you guys are right. Tiger is a hot favourite for The Masters.
Perhaps, Monty should save his form for another major and not produce it when Tiger is at his best, like at The British Open last year. Of course Tiger being the hot favourite doesn't mean it will turn out like that.
OK so you guys are Tiger rooters; I say 'Be Bra' Monty' ... I'd also like to see Padraig doing well.
Tiger may be favorite but favorites CAN lose.
Monty played very well last season and can be avery, very nice person despite media opinion. I genuinely like the guy.
I think Padraig has a better chance than Monty to win in the next few weeks. He did well in the match-play recently, and had a couple of good rounds at Doral. And he's playing pretty good this week, trying to keep pace with Toms.
Looking at this year's Euro Tour stats, Colin isn't doing too hot, although he did win in Hong Kong. He's at #10 on the Euro tour. He's still clinging to #11 in World Ranking. He needs some good golf to kep from falling further down the list.
Monty had a couple of very bad tournaments after his divorce came through not long ago. He said it did affect him alot, despite being seperated quite a while, he said it's still difficult getting the official divorce from his wife.
Hopefully he is over it and able to concentrate on his golf, over the next few very important tournaments.
Are you guys not aware that Monty played quite well in the latter half of last season and finished top of the European Order of merit?
His ranking this year reflects the few tournaments he's played in as our season isn't full steam ahead yet. This is the time of year when our bigger names take time ot or play the US Tour.
Colin's had a real comeback last fall (see I speak american ) so Ihope it continues for him.
Par5score2,
Monty has played well, but in recent weeks his form has really suffered.
Dubai, 74, 74, missed the cut by 5 strokes.
Johnny Walker Classic, 70, 74, missed the cut by 2 strokes.
At the Match Play, he got through the first round, despite going around in about +4, so he could do with improving alot.
I hope he gets it together for the next few weeks, which are very important.

The opening three months of the European Tour are bland ,co sanctioned events except for Dubai. The top European players tend to miss most of the events, letting 'up and coming players' win.
Nothing much should be read into the European events until they come to Europe.
Monty's been through the wringer; unruly fans, difficult divorce and then trouble with his golf game. His resurgence last year was certainly nice to see. He should have won in the U.S. multiple times and he shoulda woulda coulda won a major by now. You'd think his putting stroke would have carried him to one at some point. Regardless, the window is still open and it would warm my heart to see him put his demons to rest as Tom Kite did late in his career....... then maybe he'd take it easy on our Ryder Cup team.

Monty lost a lot of weight in that divorce...........his wallet!
A Joke I read in one of the golf magazines recently.
A judge during Monty's divorce trial turns to him and says: "Mr Montgomery, having heard the evidence I decided to award your wife £10.000 per month". Monty to the Judge. "That's very kind of you your honour and every now and then I will give her some myself"
