Not so much a fun group but one of the great groups in Masters history. We saw on the Thus & Fri in 2001 Nicklaus, Player and Palmer. On the 16th (I forget which day) they all hit it within 15 feet or so !!!! They kept the group together both days. I think at that time they switched up groups after Thurs.
I forget but do they keep the Thurs and Friday pairings together this year???
I have always thought they keep the same pairings for Thursday and Friday.
Yeah, they do. They didn't use to, but I think in '98 or '99 they changed it. They expanded the field and went to three-somes and did it like any other tournament, swapping morning/afteroon tee times each day.
It would be fun to see a group of Faldo, Crane and Sabbatini... first group of the day. Rory would see nothing in front of him but open golf course
After a few holes Rory would play by himself and a official would say " you're supossed to wait for them" and Rory would say " Its the other way around they're supossed to keep up to me".

Man Faldo was a pain to watch putting at times. From the fairway he was OK. But give him a 12 foot putt, he would look at it from 9 angles, then look again from 12 angles then miss it by 4 feet. When he was truly in his prime he was quicker for sure.

Tje only reason he was quicker was because he made those putts
If you ever had Rory and Trevino and Daly in the first group, they would be done 18 when the second group got to the 10th tee.

Actually, this has happened before. Way back when Lanny Wadkins and Marc Calcavechia were the first group off on Sunday morning and one of them (I forget which one) said, "Let's see how fast we can play". They absolutely smoked through their round in something like 2 hours and change. The only down-side to this was that there was a Tour official waiting for them at 18 and he wasn't happy. They were told to never do that again. Simp
Why not? It's setting a good example for normal players that even Major champions don't take all day on the golf course. I'd bet you that they both played really well because they were so quick

I followed Faldo and Norman all day the time Norman blew his 6 shot lead on Sunday - believe me, in his prime Faldo mighta been SLOWER.
