Official lpga Kraft Nabisco Thread

The first womens major of the year starts on Thursday, so this is a thread for it. Here are the odds:

A Sorenstam 7/4
C Kerr 14/1
P Creamer 14/1
M Wie 20/1
Hee-Won Han 25/1
L Ochoa 25/1
N Gulbis 25/1

Some Others:
J Inkster 33/1
J Jang 33/1
K Webb 40/1
Mi Hyun Kim 40/1
Grace Park 50/1
Joo Mi Kim 50/1
M Pressel 50/1
Seon Hwa Lee 50/1
Ai Miyazato 66/1
Meena Lee 66/1
S Gustafson 80/1
Y Fudoh 80/1
B Lang 100/1
Birdie Kim 100/1
Christina Kim 100/1
Sarah Lee 125/1

The most generous odds have been bolded. Of course that's just my opinion, and others will have their favourites.

Butter Knife Guy,

Actually this is a thread for a major womens tournament, not a Michelle Wie thread.
If you read the first post, I said that I bolded the women with the most attractive odds. That was 4 girls.

Sorenstam's odds are too short to be attractive.
If Creamer was 20/1, I would have said Creamer was an attractive bet, but 12/1 is a little short to make it attractive for her.

And another point, if you don't care about this thread, then why did you read it?

I read it because I was interested to see what mr3856a's reaction to it would be. He has to pick up the slack, since League is in Disneyland. I see that he's trying his best to stay out of it though, as will I.

Stay out of what exactly?

I wanted to start an official thread for this very important tournament, in womens golf, perhaps the start of an Annika-slam, and certainly one of the 4 most important tournaments of a given season.

I posted odds as a good way of opening the debate.
I showed that there are some very attractive odds, particularly if you decide to bet on a Lee.

This is not supposed to be the start of any argument, simply a discussion about an interesting and exciting golf tournament.

If you are not interested in this golf tournament, the BellSouth Classic should also be on, and hopefully there will be threads about that, so perhaps you would like to frequent those.
I reckon the odds would be quite short on you keeping up to date with the Nabisco though.

No thanks, i'm not too big on the BellSouth... that said, I watch very few professional tournaments of any sort.... And as to the "what exactly".... the argument!!! anytime you pay a visit to this forum, another thread is shut down.... (obviously an overstatement)

Can't we all just get along? I have taken a greater interest in the LPGA as of late. There are some good players there but none has really come out of Annika's shadow, yet. Some are poised, however.

I'm not planning to delete the threads either, so long as things stay under control. The course seems to set up well for long hitters so Annika and Michelle have to be the favorites. Paula seems to have picked up a few yards this year too and we'll see how she fares. It should be an interesting week.

Well said wazmankg.

Go the Kraft Nabisco, and all it's 102 players.

My prediction is that after the 1st round, Lee or Kim will be near the lead.

Very true stlcard.
Last season, Paula ranked 65th in driving distance.
In this season's events, she has been 14th, 11th and 14th in driving distance standings, so she has obviously really worked on her distance, as she said she was doing during the off season. She should pose a real threat in this tournament and the other majors.

I think both Gulbis and Creamer will be up near the top in this one. They've both been playing well, just not enough to win yet. There's so many good players this year its hard to pick a winner. The Korean contingent is certainly looking strong.

NEWS UPDATE

They are teeing off in just groups of 2.

Michelle Wie is paired with Ai Mirayato. These two players should have the biggest galleries by far, and so you would wonder why they are paired together.
Would it not have been better to have at 2 larger sized galleries as opposed to bringing the two sets of fans together?

Maybe the organisers would like to focus on this pairing to try to promote the lpga and being really popular and just focus on the big crowds with this group.

Other notable groupings:
Juli Inkster & Karrie Webb
Grace Park & Natalie Gulbis
Meena Lee & Jeong Jang
Laura Davies & Cristie Kerr
Annika Sorenstam & Paula Creamer

The Sorenstam, Creamer pairing should attract alot of attention also.

Why do you think Mirayato will draw a big crowd? I know she won the Q school, but do you really think that's going to translate into greater fan interest ?
