I want Ernie to win in the worst way , but ..... you never know
Tiger is the favorite , this year and every year until he is 45 maybe until he is 55
Phil is red hot and the rule of winning the week before and playing poorly the next week , doesnt apply to Phil
Goosen , he will be around all week
Couples, seems like his attitude is really good . He is swinging it well, if his putter works look out ! he is also bring Kimmy the Super Model with him to Augusta for the 1st time .... dont be shocked if Fred does well
there will be a few surprises a Luke Donald, Stuart Applenut those types
dont look for DL3 or DiMarco
1. Goosen- These weather conditions are going to favor him more than anyone else in the field. He gets the rock, hard U.S. Open conditions he loves, not to mention he's worked hard on his game, and it's paying off. Two straights top 5s
2. Mickelson- Won't be as dominant as last week, but will still play some great golf and be in contention sunday. I look for a Shinnecock repeat this year.
3. Tiger- Think he's going to struggle a little bit this week. Not playing his best of late, and not sure mentally where he is. And Augusta's playing different than it was last year. Still see him finishing strong and getting a top-3
4. Furyk- Played well in the Players, and another guy who loves the fast greens. Also has a good track record at Augusta. Could be a good sleeper pick.
i'm likin' david toms. he's not a bomber but his irons and putting are treating him well these days. couples is my sentimental favorite but his putter gives him fits. so my top 4 are : #1. David Toms #2. Retief Goosen #3. Philly Mick.
#4. Fred Couples.
Tiger, i think will have his father too much on his mind and Vijay still can't get his putter working, though as much as i dislike him, i will never count him out.
The young guns, luke donald, adam scott and sergio garcia could make an impact and certainly have the game but i think their lack of maturity will hurt them - but i can't wait to see. great thread.

everyone loves Freddy this year. Yeah he has the long ball and the best looking swing EVER, but can he still compete at his age?
yeah, i sorta forgot about ollie. he's got 2 green jackets and he's striking the ball well. and, which howell - david or charles ? i seriosly doubt dimarco will do anything this year. in general he's not playing all that well. he can grind all right but with all the changes, i don't think he can go 4 days scambling like he does. ernie is a good contender but he seems a little out of it this year. i know he had a showing in dubai, but what else has he done. i don't think he has the consistancy thing going for him. and scott verplank - now he's a sleeper. when he's got it going he can certainly creep in there. you got some interesting picks toomsdpt123. i really can't wait for it to begin.

David Howell. Think he is one of the best chances from across seas.
1. Davis Love III - perfect way to bounce back from Players disaster
2. Phil Mickelson - 1st 3 rounds in the 60s, and then ... ???
3. David Duval - makes the cut, finishes strong, secures 2007 PGA Tour card
4. Jose Maria Olazabal - grinds it out in try for 3rd green jacket
X - Woods, Toms, DiMarco in Top-10. Garcia, Els, Goosen, Appleby in Top 16
Gary Player won't make the cut, but he'll beat Raymond Floyd at arm wrestling!
Last year's "announced" purse was $7 million. This year, it should be at least $7.5 million, if not $8 million.

i agree with you toomsdpt123 on the david howell pick. you don't hear too much about him over here, but he's got a great game. he's another one i didn't consider. he's certainly not an obvious choice but i agree, he could do well at the masters.
Tiger - he has to be in the mix
Goosen - one of the best putters on tour
Zach Johnson - great iron player, patient player
Luke Donald - being from the Chicago area, I have to pick a local
