the annoited one is turning out to be a big flop
shows you a perfect swing and all that distance isnt worth a hoot , when you cannot putt and your short game *****
alot of pressure of Chuck at Augusta, being his hometown and all
but , that start is brutal

greens and fairways look like concrete .... maybe they just have them painted nicely
if the winds come up like they say ... Ernie and Phil are in trouble this afternoon this course is a beast now
Greens are fast, but the scary thing is if they don't water them, they're going to be faster tomorrow b/c forecast calls for winds of 15-25 mph. This is going to turn out to be more of a USOpen than a masters.

I think that's what Hootie and the gang want. I don't think they like the ideal of guys going really low at the Masters. Not only will the winds make the greens faster, the short hitters will be at a least a club length disadvantage on holes playing into the wind.
This could be one of those "Last Man Standing" tournaments where the guy that makes the fewest mistakes winds. There is just a lot of trouble waiting on that coure to bite you and even more with the wind.
Is it possible to get greens to run 18 on a stimp? It would seem the grass couldn't be cut short enough...
Seems like hyperbole - TGC guessed 12 or 13. But I wonder what theoretical max is, without actually losing (killing) the greens. They certainly took Shinnecock to the limit a few years ago, and I think those were running around 13.
They sometimes say the greens are running in the 15 range at the Masters come the weekend when it's dry...but who knows if how much faster they could get.
The title that I really dislike is "Frank Lickliter the Second". Like, he is too much of an aristocrat to accept the name "Frank Lickliter Junior"? Gimme a break.
Howell III is overrated and does not seem to be getting any better with time.
Many pro golfers have been born into privilege but the one unappealing thing about Howell III and Love III is that they wear the good-old-boy grooming on their sleeves by insisting on a title. Notah Begay III I have no idea what that's about since he's from Asia.
Let's just say that Charles Howell is never going to win in this bastion of privilege that he was groomed for. I doubt that he will ever win a major.
Howell came onto the scene at a time where people were looking for someone, anyone, to challenge Tiger. The sports writers and reporters were giving him a huge billing, almost giving him a few green jackets merely out of courtesy because of his hometown lineage. Big difference between college golf and professional golf.
I sometimes wonder if guys like him would not have been better off coming up through the Nationwide Tour... But then again, it's not easy turning away from a multi million dollar endorsment contract.
Tiger is an anomaly, as was Nicklaus. Most golfers never reach their potential until they are in their 30's. Only time will tell on most of the young golfers that many are willing to discount today.
