I looked at the field for the tourney next week and tiger, phil, couples, vijay, etc wont be playing in it which is good so the other players can have a shot at winning. Not that i dont want them to succeed but in smaller tournaments like this i think it more for the players who dont get much spotlight. Anyways Im gonna go for Ernie Els and Camillo as top players next week.
Excellent round by Phil today at the Masters! Two tourneys in a row to win, he ought to be proud.
Never count out Davis Love III at the Heritage. He played well at the Masters, and I think he has won the Heritage 5 times. HarbourTown is a great course.
Daly is in the field...Harbour Town doesn't exactly suit his style, but I think he'll still play well. Stewart Cink is also another who's won here multiple times, and always seems to play well. I also like Darren Clarke, but those are just my picks...
Well, it has turned out to be yet another bunched up leaderboard at wonderful Harbour Town. Els has a shot this afternoon. It will be fun watching The Big Easy attempt to run down the leaders.
Jim Furyk has had his troubles nailing down victories lately, although he did win at Cog Hill last July. And it will be interesting to see if Badds can keep his fine play going down the stretch this afternoon. Billy Mayfair looks like a good darkhorse. He has been playing well of late and his putter is finally working for him.
Furyk just dropped a bomb to retake the lead solo, 1 up on Badds (it's good to see him playing well again). Ernie is still within range, 3 back. It'll be one of these guys, I think. Furyk is looking solid.
and it's Badds ! The folks at MacGregor are smiling this afternoon. Congratulations to Aaron B. But what's up with Furyk ? If this guy weren't a major and multiple tourney winner with a rep for being such a bulldog in the clutch, I'd swear he has a case tightening collar down the stretch. Maybe it's a putting issue, but he's been playing well and been in the mix a number of times. None of his putts were really close down the stretch. Hopefully he'll get past whatever is troubling him trying to close the deal.
Yes! A big congrats to Badds! This should set him on his way. As for Jim Furyk...since winning the 2003 U.S. Open, he has 10 top-3 finishes on TOUR, with only two of them being victories.

There's a difference between not playing well and choking. I think Furyk didn't putt as well as he could have instead of choking. He gave himself several opportunities to win he just couldn't close the deal. Hey, the guy is human and it happens.
And Give Baddelby credit for having a great putting stroke and a solid short game. It really saved his bacon in the final two rounds.

I think Furyk made a mistake on 15. That is a HARD hole, but laying up with a nine iron, then only having 98 yards in? Why not just hit a 5 iron into the greenside bunker and you would have a MUCH better chance at birdie with that front pin placement. I think he gave it away right there. 16 is a pretty easy hole, and a good chance at birdie(if you don't hit it behind the tree), but you have to go for it at 15 also.
Good jobs Badds for having the cojones to hit the 15th green in 2.

On the 15th I don't think the strategy was necessarily bad. It was the execution that failed. You'd expect him to hit a better wedge shot than that. The bottom line is he also had opporutunities to 17 and 18 but just didn't capitalze. If Furyk putts better he wins and he knows it. The same could be said for Billy Mayfair, he had several chances to sink putts down the stretch that could have very easily put him in contention and it just didn't happen.
