Kraft Nabisco - stats, driving, fairways, GIR and putting
Here is the stats from the Kraft Nabisco. I was going to just show the top 10 in categories, but decided maybe people would like to know how other players got on in that category.
Wie won the greens in regulation category quite easily and was number 2 in driving distance. Looks like she needs to work on her putting. She's very close to flat out dominating the LPGA if you ask me. When's her next event?

Her next LPGA event is the lpga championship on June 8th.
By then, hopefully she will have made a mens cut, the first woman to do so, on the men's main pro tours for 60 years. She plays the SK Telecom Open in Korea, starting May 4th.
You could be right about her domination of the lpga, because her improvement, even in the last year, is off the chart. Her green in regulation stat is really telling. I think once she starts knocking those irons consistantly closer, I think your prediction will come true, and she will win some event by a pretty big margin.
I think she needs to do a lot better in the putting category. That's one thing I noticed in her last tournament. She was hitting it close and having good birdie ops, but not sinking the putts. They said that it's just a matter of experience for the most part. Once she starts putting it in the hole, watch out.
I think Wie needs to work with Dave Pelz to improve her putting. Phil Mickelson mentioned that Dave Pelz helped his putting during the Masters. I am not sure if there is any conflict between Dave and David if that happens.
Her putting average of 31.75 is disappointing. Just half a putt better each round and the tournament is hers. Hopefully she will get it next time.
How do they calculate the putting average? Let say if Michelle hits the green and two putt vs. someone who misses the green, chipped and then one putt. Would this skews the putting average and hitting the green or not hitting would affect this average?

thanks,
The putting average there is calculated, by total number of putts. That means it is indeed very skewed.
Anyone who hits a high number of greens is bound to take more putts.
Angela park had the best putting average and hit just 105 putts. Michelle took 127 putts, so Angela took 25 putts less than Michelle.
However for Greens in Regulation, Michelle hit 60, whereas Angela hit 34. So Michelle hit 26 more greens in regulation. Angela missing all of those extra greens probably had plenty of short chips from off the green or near it.

There is really no calculation involved.... simply putts per round. The PGA tracks putts per GIR, which provides a much more accurate reflection of putting ability.
