Sure Val , but that's quite a mouthful. How about if we just go with Lamo Hole for short.

I found out the hard way! Not long ago I was with some friends here who were hosting some British dignitaries here for a visit. Very nice folks, very down to earth (thankfully!). I was retelling a story, and part of the story had to do with a man giving his wife a "pat on the behind." Well, I was trying to find a more "delicate" word for "behind," and used "fanny." The British folks gave me the strangest look then started laughing. I knew immediately that I had said something terribly wrong, but had no idea what. My British friend that lives here whispered in my ear what "fanny" means across the pond!

I was so embarassed!

It just goes to show, same language, but not always the same meanings!

I know what a hole is, but what is a Lamo? Oh, I get it.
LAME-O as in physically challenged or is it naive and inept in either case is it PC?

It's simply an acronym for 'Lord and Master of', the beginning of Val's title, coupled with the last word of his title 'Hole', which I presume is his new surname. Some people will twist anything.

Moved this to where it belongs. Why was this in the lounge to begin with?

Because it was originally here and very quickly it got off-topic, so wazman moved it to the Lounge.

Edit: Sort of breaking news on this, although this isn't really news since I'm sure it's been there all day long, but I just checked Tiger's official website and there is a formal apology on it.

On second thought, I'd really rather not be called anything with the word "hole" in it!

There is just no other way to describe my entire short game. Something in my brain short-circuits and sends spasms down my arms into my hands. I'm not going to start calling it something it isn't!

Well I'm british & I certainly don't agree with the press.

For someone to say they are being a spaz, is a quite common phrase, & why the PC brigade should be getting all up in arms is quite beyond me. Its a big fuss over nothing. If someone has a silly glitch with their game I think spaz is the perfect phrase. After all people with their own problems whether medical or otherwise have a problem. So Tiger simply told it how it was, end of story.

Its the PC brigade that is behind the name change for Spastics. There actually used to be a spastics society & everyone was quite happy with that name till the PC brigade with their own self opinionated "ooo you cant call someone that" "can't do that" etc approach, got involved. Which to me simply brings to question their own insecurities.

Tiger should never need to appologise for telling it how it is. Pure & simple.
