Creamer's 3rd round woes continues.

It should be real disturbing trend for Creamer fans. Her 75 in 3rd round of Florida natural tournament was bad considering 49 year old sherii turner shot 63 and bunch of players shot 60's including Annika's 64. But even more amazing thing is she failed to make single birdie in her round and this tournament has been birdie fest from the start. Because it wasn't televised I have no idea what was her problem but definitely 3rd round is causing problem to creamer recently.

This is her 3rd round results in her last 5 tournaments.

Mastercard classic: she entered 3rd round tied for 1st but finished tied for 4th after sluggish 72 which she made only one birdie.

Safeway international : She entered 3rd round trailing leaders by two strokes but shot 74 and never threatened leaders after that.

Nabisco : She shot 79 in 3rd round.

Takefuji classic : She entered 3rd round trailing ochoa by 3 but shot another sluggish 71. Her 3rd round score was worst score among players who finished top 17.

then came 75 at Florida natural.

It is a natural thing for the young inexperienced Tour Pro's and is a mental thing.
"Thats it, I am here for the weekend and will make money"
A players first target is Make the Cut, then go on and win.
She will soon start to shoot better 3rd round scores.

Fileygolfer,
With Creamer having won twice and had a whole bunch of high finishes, I don't think she is as inexperienced as you are implying.
"Thats it, I am here for the weekend and will make money"
Making the cut should not be a big deal at all for her.

What I think has happened to her this season, is that she considered herself the 2nd best womens player and she was probably wondering how much she would close the gap on Annika this season.
I think reality has set in as to just how well she has done last season, and the pressure is beginning to tell.

I do agree with you that she will get better. There is a long season ahead, and she has 3 majors, as well as the Samsung and the World Womens Matchplay championships. There is also the playoffs should she qualify. So there is plenty for her to get her season into shape.

For a 19 year-old?

I don't think it's a major concern.

Paula Creamer is probably just trying to hard "to make something happen" in the third round, and it's getting her into trouble. She'll be fine. She still has a lot to learn about playing professional golf.

A lot of people apparently, McGuire. If you're not one of them then why do you bother reading these threads ? The LPGA will soon leave The Champions Tour in the dust from a fan interest perspective, if it hasn't already. I don't expect it to ever come close to the PGA Tour in that respect, but it's certainly a viable viewing option in my household. I don't mean to get too personal, but is it all "chicks" that you don't care about or just those who play golf ?

Creamer had a poor 3rd round, which wasn't that big of a surprise.

Annika's 4th round was absolutely shocking though.
She put herself into the lead. One player was just one shot behind, and then the 3rd place player was 5 shots behind Annika.

The 2nd place golfer Sung Ah Yim hit 72, level par, which was a very average score on that day. All Annika had to do was have a 72 to win the tournament.

What happened?
She shot 75, the worst score of all the golfers in the top 50 in that round. In fact equal the worst score of the top 50 golfers in any round on any of the 4 days play.

Most people would easily have backed Annika to close this one out.
It was most unAnnika like. She even had a share of the lead on the 2nd last hole, and she proceeded to hit it out of bounds.

Perhaps some of the GR experts can explain what happened to Annika, a proven winner, in that round.

Tweaked one.

Everyone does it at some time, but do it at that point and there is no way back.

Ernie did it in Dubai.

It just wasn't her day as she explained repeatedly in an interview. She was steaming... I suspect that she'll be back with a vengeance.

Paula Creamer has passed Michelle Wie's total money won this season.
Creamer 184,000
Wie 181,000
Creamer is up to 10th in the money list.

Paula is 3rd in GIR percentage with 76.2%
Annika is 35th with 69.9%.
Big problem for Annika. Needs to do better.

Good. I didn't watch any interviews. Maybe she will win the next one by 10+ strokes.

As for Creamer, I think there is something new for her to deal with this year. She has gone from Paula the 18 year old phenom rookie, to Paula Creamer the golf entity. She has special appearences to make, and sponsor things to take care of. Last year it was basically just about golf.

As for Annika's last round, the conditions were blustery, and difficult, and she hit some marginal shots that went everywhere but where she wanted them. I am not sure what is going on with her, she doesn't seem to be herself.

I agree. She's now the Lady in Pink, golfer babe/marketing entity. Hopefully she'll get past it and start playing up to her ability.
