This may sound ridiculous but I agree with Leaugegolf, they should only count points between January and August, Europe have it wrong. Stenson is No 1 in qualifying but is not playing well, MCGinley the same.

Two Unaddressed problems Still

1. Events like B.C. and Tucson still count as much as the Players Championship, LA, Doral, Bah Hill, Wachovia, and Memorial.

2. Someone can make a 5th place finish and miss the cut in remaining events and still make more points than someone who consistently finishes between 11th and 15th with one 6th place.

As much as the Players Championship wants to be considered a Major, it is not. The field at the Players is definitely a strong one but Ryder Cup Points aren't awarded based on strength of field. Doing so would further handicap the lesser events.
I think points should be awarded by strenth of field. I think we should do away with our point system and follow Europe's. It would probably make a difference on our bottom 3/4 picks and make our team stronger overall. The saying that the team is as strong as its weakest member is true.

I see your point, but we are still using an antiquated system from over 30 years ago. There may have been some changes, but I would rather do something like the President's cup in our selection system. If we lose again, then it is time to overhaul the system and use either world rankings points, money, or a combination.
