2 main tours:
PGA Tour, Euro Tour. Everything else is secondary (at best).
Alot will depend on how well she adapts to the courses over there.
There are 150 players in the event. I assume it's about 70 that make the cut.
Positive points: they are much lower quality players than the pga where MW nearly made cuts.
Negative points: those guys are used to those courses, whereas for MW, it is new.

If she makes the cut it would be like saying "I played minor league baseball."

Interesting - but not overly impressive.
If a 16 year old girl were to play in minor league baseball in a mens league, and be at the standard of the guys there, it would be quite a big deal, would it not. Please note: I don't know much about baseball.

So you think players like Choi and Couples are not impressive? They played this tournament and Choi, a PGA winner, is playing again this year. Don't know why any PGA player would bother to play in such an undistinguished tour and some don't always make the cut.
So you think players like Choi and Couples are not impressive?.
Yes, I do. But what I don't find impressive is picking two good touring pros out of a field of 170 and trying to make it seem like the majority of the players at the event are at their level. Couples and Choi may be playing there, but this is still an Asian Tour event, and if she makes the cut, it might in my eyes be on par with making a cut on the Canadian Tour, but certainly can be in no way compared to making the cut at the John Deere or the Sony.
My whole point in the original comment I made was in response to Rodney building this up as the chance for a woman to make a cut "on a major men's tour" for the first time in 60 years, clearly trying to equate this with what the Babe did 60 years ago (who I believe is the last woman to make a cut on the PGA Tour). This, of course, would not even be remotely akin to that.
Maybe she can make this one and build some momentum towards the John Deere - we'll see! I'll be watching for sure.

Comparing this event to the Canandian Tour is an insult to Asian Tour players.
The Asian Tour is one of the 6 main professional tours, and has a status well above that of the Canadian Tour.
I have not tried to equate this event to pga tour standard. In fact, I have stated before, that it is a long way below pga standard. However it is a different kind of course to what Wie would be used to, and most of the players she will be playing against play on these courses every week.
If you are correct, and there are 170 players, that makes it pretty difficult to make a cut. I still think she will do it though.
As regards to the Babe comparison, the facts I have stated are true.
No female has made a cut in a mens tournament on one of the 6 main tours for the last 60 years.
If she makes the cut it is great. Making a pga cut would be much better still.

Is it really? I figure they're about equal, which is to say both are rather insignificant.

The "six major men's tours" comment was clearly an attempt to make this event out to be more significant than it is.

The number of players entered in no way influences how difficult it will be to make the cut - it's the quality of players that matters.

Both true and deceptive - like I said earlier, her making this cut would be in no way analogous to Babe making a cut on the PGA Tour. It would be extremely impressive if she makes it - don't get me wrong - but comparrison's to what Babe did are completely off the mark.

You've mentioned "different courses" a couple of times. What's so different about the course Wie is playing this week?
They require good course management, so hopefully Wie's caddy will have done his job, and be able to tell her exactly where she should be hitting it and what shots she should take on. I am less than convinced by his performance so far though.
I don't know much about this specific course, so I could be completely wrong about the above.
If it was a co-sanctioned event with the euro tour I could probably get alot of specific details, but I've found it hard to get info on this course.
Does anyone even know the total length of it?

I didn't decide what the 6 major tours were. It was the people in charge of the world rankings who did that.
If Wie makes the cut, it would be the most significant cut that a woman has made in a mens event for 60 years.
For instance Se Ri Pak's cut was made on the Korean Tour. That tour could be compared to the Canadian Tour.
The Asian Tour is superior to both, although certainly below the pga and european tours.
How I'd rate the tours, just an opinion of course:
1 uspga
2 euro pga
3 asian and japanese
4 sunshine and australian
5 canandian, korean and other minor tours.

If you have 100 players of a certain standard, it will be easier to make a cut, then if you have 150 of the exact same standard, because some will play above their average, and some below. The more players, the more who will excel and the tougher the cut line.

We're kind of in agreement there.
It would be impressive.
It would not be as impressive as a pga cut, or a euro pga cut made.
The course is 7,111-yards long.
The grass, unlike in most local golf courses, is American.
Despite what people might think, I try not to be toooooo biased. That's why I'm putting in the above bit of information, which shows that she should not have much trouble adjusting to the greens. That had been one of my worries so it's nice to know she won't be disadvantaged there.

Appearance fees.
First it is a major tour albeit not the PGA or even the European tour. Many of the players are from other countries. Many, many have won tournament all over. It's not like she will be playing against third-graders. Most are men who have years of tournament experience. If you cannot be impressed by someone making a cut against these players, then you cannot be impressed by anyone.
BTW, I only mentioned the two players because I knew they had played and I couldn't look up the whole field as they weren't listed until just yesterday but also to point out it's not just bottom-feeders that play as you seem to be indicating.

Not only did I say I would be impressed, I said I would be extremely impressed!

C'mon, it's the Asian Tour! I only wanted to make the distinction that this would be in no way comperable to what Babe did 60 years ago, as some would like to imply.

What quality exactly was the pga tour 60 years ago?
Remember, it is the quality of the cut line, that is the important factor, not the top players.
I am of the opinion that the pga tour is much stronger now, than it was then.
