Rodney,
Where do you get this info? I am trying to find the leaderboard but can't. Could you please give me the link? Is it on TV in the US?
I am getting the info on the official tournament website.
A word of caution, the leaderboard is of worse standard and accuracy than even the lpga leaderboards.
After 8 holes, they had Michelle in last place at +3.
Luckily, I know some pro golfers out in Korea, who told me that was nonsense and she was -1.
Then suddenly after about 10 holes, they brought her to -2 on the leaderboard.
People debate the strength of the field, but there is some other important factors. Only 60 and ties make the cut. That is out of a field of 150.
That means despite Wie playing well, she is just 1 shot inside the cut line. I'd be happier if she had more of a cushion. Hopefully she'll play well tomorrow once again.
Note: A certain Mr. Ty Tryon shot 82 and is in 152nd place.
Wie shot 70 and is in 29th place after 1 round.
It certainly won't be easy in round 2, but lets hope for the best.
The Korean Times paper mentioned that if she makes the cut, she would be the second woman to do so at a Korean event. Se Ri Pak made the cut and finished tied for 10th in 2003 at tournament with a similar field.
She will have her work cut out for her. She had an early first day pairing, meaning softer conditions with less wind, spike marks, etc. She should then have a later time today, so the course will play more difficult.
Has anyone noticed the purse for this event??? 600,000,000 WON sounds big, but 1 South Korean won = 0.00106975 U.S. dollars. It looks to only be the size of a Nationwide event. This would explain a cut to 60 players. Of course the actual payout is probably affected by appearance fees.
I can't find her on the Live scoring nor the 2nd round tee-times.
Is she playing as a guest and not included in the tournament?
I see Charlie Wi shot 70, but no Michelle Wie.

On you last point, the total prize money is 600,000 US dollars. Wie won't be worried about that since she got 700,000 appearance money.
The Nationwide Tour gets about the same prize money, but that is only because it is heavily subsidised by the pga tour.
On the Se Ri Pak comparison, there is a massive difference.
Se Ri Pak made a cut on the Korean Tour. This is a very low level competition, similar to The Canadian Tour.
Although Wie is competing in Korea, the event is part of the Asian Tour, which is much more prestigious. If Wie makes this, it will be the first time a woman has made a cut in one of the recognised 6 pga tours for 60 years. There is still plenty of work to be done though.
If he was playing much better than that he wouldn't be missing cuts on the Asian Tour.
Wie one off the cut line after the first round? She should make the cut then. Unless..............Nah! We've been down that road before!
Wie could indeed do with more of a cushion over the cut line. As I have stated before if you are only a shot inside the cut line coming down the stretch all it takes is a stumble.
If however you had 3 or 4 shots, it would take a folding exercise, like that shown by Jean Van de Velde and many others.
Holding onto just 1 shot isn't easy for someone trying to make history.
I reckon that 73 will make the cut for her. That's not that easy, given that she had the easiest conditions for her 70 and her 2nd round will be in the most difficult conditions.
I still think she'll do it, with a couple to spare.
Prediction:
2nd Round: 71 and a historic event.
That would help her alot for her next pga attempt.
