Phew, she did it.
I do admit that I was nervous as to whether it would happen.
If it had been tight, it would have been so difficult hold it together over the last couple of holes, with the magnitude of what she was achieving out there.
I'm glad she had a cushion. I've discussed that here many times, and said she really needed a cushion to make her first mens cut. One shot inside with all the pressure is very difficult. Of course now that she has made a cut, a one shot cushion is much more likely to be enough, given that she has got over that hurdle already.
So anyway, she is in a tie for 19th. Hopefully over the next couple of rounds she will just enjoy herself and play some good golf.
Another birdie on the fifth hole. At -4 and and in a tie with KJ Choi.
birdied the 10th hole. At -5, which is 1 better than KJ Choi.
Another birdie on the 15th hole. At -6 and the cut is -2. 2 strokes better than KJ, ouch.
I fail to see the relevance in this. But yes, she did make a cut... on the Asian Tour, as Si Re Pak did a few years ago. I guess now we shall see if she can beat her 10th place finish.

Se Ri Pak made the cut in a Korean Tour event, which is one of the Asian Tour's equivalents of the PGA's Nationwide Tour. Wie's accomplishment is against a stronger field at a higher level than what Pak did a few years ago.
Congrats to rodney_c! I'd congratulate Wie but she probably didn't sweat this one out as much as he did.
It's news worthy because of the time between Babe's cut and Wie making this one. I hope Wie will carry this "confidence builder" over to her play this summer.
It is newsworthy, but in no way analogous to Babe making the cut on the PGA Tour. But like I said, maybe Michelle can build off this and make it at the John Deere later this summer. Heck, for all we know, she could win this tournament - she's only 6 back.

Sorry, but you are incorrect there.
Si Re Pak did not make the cut on the Asian Tour.
She made the cut on the Korean Tour, which is a whole world away.
Comparing what Se Ri Pak did in a Korean tour event to what Michelle did in an Asian Tour event, is like saying that someone who makes a cut on the Nationwide Tour is equal to someone who makes a cut on the pga tour, because both are in America. Or better still, how about saying someone who makes a cut in a local event is equal to someone making a cut on the pga tour, because they are both in America.
The Korean event that Se Ri Pak entered had no ranking points. She received none and wouldn't have got any if she had won the event.
If Michelle Wie places in the top 17 in this event, she will receive Official World Golf Ranking points, and have an official world golf ranking.
That's something else that she would be the first female to do, but that really is asking alot.

I stand corrected. I suppose I could have taken it upon myself to look it up.
I still think this is no way analogous to Babe making a PGA Tour cut, but that day may come for this girl, too.

Thanks for the congratulations.
It was indeed tough going.
The confidence could help her qualify from local qualifying for the US Open, which would be another milestone.
On milestones, she had her best round in relation to par in a mens event,-3.
She previously had 68's, but these were at par 70 events.

Either way, a noteworthy accomplishment.
I agree that a pga cut is a greater accomplishment.
On winning this thing, I doubt it.
But she did prove you wrong, so maybe she can prove me wrong.

Not even comperable IMHO.

She did indeed prove me wrong. And who knows what a pair of rounds in the 60's on the weekend could do, though it's likely that if she were to go low tomorrow that she'd come crashing back to earth on Sunday. That would be pretty natural.

Not to be picky, but the wording of this statement just made me laugh. Isn't Wie playing on the Asian Tour in Korea right now? I know it wasn't how you meant it to come out, but just a funny wording error.

I too doubt that she will finish really high. She was business-like in the interview after and said, "it's great but there is alot of work to be done", or similar words.
There will probably be some sort of "relief" effect at making the cut. Hopefully she won't slip too much. A top half finish of those left would prove me wrong on that count.
