Wow....did I read right? Retief Goosen got a 9 on 18? Anxious to see what the heck happened there. He has a tendency to blow up when he realizes his chances of winning went down the drain (ex. 05 Open).

Retief certainly looked all broken up over it. In the grand scheme of things it probably didn't matter a whole lot to him once he knew he couldn't win. I'm sure he didn't like finishing like that though.
Well, remember at the US Open last year...when he realized he had no chance of winning, he just went through the motions. Sorta like what he did on the last hole. He would have gotten nice world ranking points for 3rd, though. He could have inched up closer to 2nd place. Instead, he'll prolly still hang on to third by a little bit.
I got to go to the Wachovia on Sat. and it was awesome! We followed the Scott/Garcia group and the Glover/Trahan group (fellow Clemson alumni )
Scott can absolutely pound the ball off the tee. I was also suprised about how bad the rough was eating the players up out there. We saw quite a few full swings out of the rough that only went 50-150 yards. It was really thick though...I could not imagine trying to play a ball out of that stuff.

Absolut, did you get a look at #18, I think it was, where Furyk hit that fantastic 197 yard FW bunker shot in the playoff ? Was that playing as much uphill as it looked ? 197 yards uphill, with the ball well above his feet and a substantial lip and he sticks it 8' just short of pin high. It was unfortunate that it backed up just off the front but that was one of the best shots I've seen in a long time, situation, degree of difficulty... etc. That one was worthy of Tiger's top 10, IMO. Furyk has the look of someone ready for the US Open and ready to break into that little Big 5 club.
CBS cut off the Retief 9 on 18. I recorded it and when I fast forwarded through the commercial, they were saying Retief was putting for an 8. I guess the needed to show us another Wachovia commercial instead!!! I like Retief and don’t like to see anyone get a 5 over, but that would have been the best part of the finish. Why do they do that??
