Wasn’t the Tourney just a bunch of no name golfers? Is she done competing in Men’s Tourneys now, so she can finely concentrate on getting a win on the LPGA?

She needs to worry about winning on the LPGA tour before even playing again in the PGA...

Basically, though K.J. Choi played and a couple of others I've heard of.

No she's not. She's only allowed to compete in 8 LPGA events per year until she's 18. She'll fill in her schedule with a few men's events.

None, though she has a number of 2nds, a couple of them in majors. Again, she is only allowed to compete in 8 LPGA events per season.

I don't think she has to worry about much of anything and she'll probably continue to play in some PGA events, as well as an LPGA schedule when she's old enough and/or they let her, until the novelty wears off... unless she starts having a bit of success doing so.
i'm impressed, you do know your facts. she can beat the tar out of most of us on the course and will make more money than most of us. i think she's not too concern about anybody's opinion (except family).
Who would've thought it? You beat rodney_c to the punch!
LOL!!!
Whenever I get the urge to bad-mouth a pro golfer, male or female... I just go play a round of golf... then I remember why they are making the big $$'s and I still pay to play... then pay some more on lost balls,****clubs (uhh huh!), more lessons, **** clubs (yeah right), and on and on.....

Isn't life, and especially golf, about challenges and purusing success? If any of us had the talent and drew crowds, we'd be there chasing the cut line on a sponsors exemption too...even if it was in South Korea. For a 16 year old to make the cut on any professional mens tour is REMARKABLE. I say as long as they are going to give her a shot w/ exemptions, she should do it. However, I am more for making her Monday qualify now that she is a professional.
I just wonder why so many alleged adults spend so much time critiquing the life of a 16 year old girl. If you don't like her, don't watch the tourneys she is in. Every single time you bring up her name, her sponsors smile.
Wie's sponsor's grins are like death masks compared to the look on rodney_c's face when someone is foolish to start another Wie thread!
Are you sure its not YOU who grins? As it gives you yet another reason to mention rodney_c lol! I swear I think you bring up Rodney as much as he brings up Wie!
Edit to add: wow just found the golfchannel board... yah its a zoo lol O and their format *******!

It is weird that some people critisise Wie for playing in pga tournaments, because they say she isn't good enough, then she plays in an Asian tournament and proves she is definetely good enough for that, yet some people still arn't happy.
By the way, it was the most important cut a female has made in a male dominated tournament in 60 years, so that's a pretty big deal.

Firstly, as waz said, she is concentrating on playing lpga tournaments.
She is playing 8 lpga tournaments this season, which is the maximum she can play. She has asked to play more, but has been refused. So she is concentrating all she can, on the lpga.
Why do you think she should be done in mens tournament?
She has made her first cut. Wouldn't that be a stupid time to quit?
When Tiger made his first pga cut, should he have decided, ooh that's it, time to quit!!!!
She has shown she can make an Asian Tour cut.
No doubt she will play more events over there and a top 10 is certainly on the cards down the line.
Also, for the Casio in Japan, she missed last years cut by just 1 shot and has a great chance to make the cut this time.
She also has 2 pga tournaments coming up, with a great chance to make a cut, and if she does, she will have done it in less tournaments than Tiger, and at a far younger age.
So to answer your question, no she certainly isn't done in mens tourneys.

She plays 3 lpga tournaments before her next pga event.
So she'll might do what you want. However, they are two majors, and the world matchplay, so they arn't easy pickings there.

Considering her record in majors thus far, I wouldn't count her out. BTW, how does the tournament in which Michelle made the cut differ from the one where Se Ri Pak finished 10th a couple of years ago.... from a quality standpoint ?

Se Ri Pak's cut was on the Korean Tour.
Michelle Wie's cut was on the Asian Tour.
The only similarity between them is that they were both played in Korea.
Funilly enough that one similarity makes many people assume they are the same, which is like saying a Nationwide Wide Tour event = an pga tour event, just because both are played in America.
I don't know alot about the quality of the field in Se Ri Pak's event, but a pro player from out there told me, that the difference between the Se Ri / Michelle events are the same as the difference between pga / nationwide events.
The one stat that means something to me is that the winner of Se Ri Pak's tournament received NO RANKING POINTS in the Official World Golf Rankings. Whereas in Michelle's event the top 17 received ranking points.
Winning is more important than making cuts. To her, winning a women't event should be the next goal. If she wins at least one LPGA event, then after she turns 18, the PGA may keep giving her sponsor's invotes. Ohterwide, the novelty wears win, and the PGA will probably quit giving her the invites. The novelty is wearing thinner and thinner the longer she goes without a professional win.

I agree that the novelty will wear off eventually if she fails to make a PGA cut, but what would you have her do in between the few LPGA events where she's allowed to compete ? 18 is still a ways off for Michelle and playing against the guys on tougher layouts will only improve her game.
