Bubba Watson - bad round
After a shooting a 65 in round 1 at the Bank of America Colonial, and putting himself in a tie for 2nd, Bubba Watson shot 77 to miss the cut by 1 shot.
Amazingly, his last four holes, practically replicated Michelle Wie's round at the John Deere, double bogey, bogey, and the last two holes with pars.
Both players have yet to win on tour, so it funny how this happened.
Of course Bubba also had 4 bogies on the front 9 and a score of 77 to Wie's 70 at the John Deere in the 2nd round, but hopefully you get my point on the similarities.
On the topic of Bubba, I was wondering if he had the ability to win, given that he hadn't in 4 full seasons on the Nationwide Tour.
After his recent form, I'm wondering if he could completely lose it, and not even keep his tour card.
- He has missed 4 of his last 5 cuts.
- After a very promising start to the season, his best finish is a tie for 31st in his last 8 starts.
- He has won 482,000 so far. By last season's money list, he would need 136,000 more to secure his card. Not that much really, but if his confidence is suffering, maybe doubt will creep in.
- He should do it though. One really good tournament should secure him.
