As I had said above Ochoa was lurking, and she has since joined the leader Alison Hanna on -4. I did doubt and still doubt that Allison could win it, because she isn't used to the situation.
Annika at even par with 4 to go is out of contention to win.
T1 Lorena Ochoa 15 -4
T1 Allison Hanna 14 -4
T3 Kyeong Bae F -3
T3 Hee-Won Han 15 -3
5 Juli Inkster 14 -1
T6 Paula Creamer 17 E 72
T6 Annika Sorenstam 14 E
Annika at +3 for the round. If she pars it home that's a 74.
Match that against Kyeong Bae who shot 66.
Kyeong Bae is the clubhouse leader at -3. Fair play to her.
Well done Lorena Ochoa on another win.
This will put her as a very clear number 2 ranked player.
It will also put her back well ahead of Karie Webb on the money list.
Lorena's last 6 results:
2nd, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 1st.
Pure class.
2005 was dominated by Annika. Only Paula Creamer and Christie Kerr had 2 wins each after Annika's 10.
This season is turning out to be much better. There could be a real battle for 1st spot on the money list.
Man Annika Trippled the 9th. I was following Gulbis who was a few groups in front of her and all I heard as people walked by was that she trippled it. I can understand if you hit the center of that green chances are its going to take the ridge and come all the way back down. Its happened to me before. I heard a caddy complaining about it but if I can manage to not have it come down so can every other player, they're pros for God' sake. It was nice to see only 5 players under par, made me feel better about my game. I think they should make that tournament a major, but there has been some rumors about moving the tournament and Sybase not renewing the contract as head sponsor.
Ochoa sure is strong this year! Player of the Year is starting to look possible. I guess she's taking the next week or two off, so maybe someone else can win or come in 2nd!
I'm not so sure that Annika is going to reaffirm her dominance...not this year anyway. She'll win again.... many times I'm sure, but with Lorena's emergence and Karrie's re-birth coupled with whatever Korean gal has a hot hand that week and Michelle eventually playing full-time, I don't think we'll be seeing Annika winning 7-10 per year anymore.
