he had a great chance in america the other week, and ended up taking silly bogies and took a 5 over par? on the 72nd hole.
dont get me wrong i love to see goosen play well and win, i will be hoping for a good tournament from him, but i cant see him winning this one.
Honestly, I don't think he really cared about that 18th hole. One of those holes where you realize you have no chance of winning, and you just go through the motions. It's happened to me before when playing tournaments. You lose total focus. But Retief's got a tremendous mental game, and I think he'll back bounce back with no problem. Heck, after the final round meltdowns at Pinehurst and St. Andrews, he came back to win 4 times in 3 months last year.

i just dont think he's up to the game right now, as i said i want him to do well and he will do well but i cannot see him winning it. i say exactly the same about els too.
Trevor is an excellent bet, more especially at 100/1. Could that still possibly be?
Something else of note, Ian Woosnam will tee it up for the 500th time in a European Tour event. I loved his quote: “It feels more like 5,000 than 500 but I would like to thank everybody I’ve travelled with over the last 30 years."
The course looks absolutely fantastic. Julian Small and his crew have done a superb job not only with the conditioning, but also in the overseeing of the recent remodeling.
The West Course played 7,047 yards in 2000. This year it has been stretched to over 7,300 yards, with several critical playing angles restored and a couple of club lengths added on some holes which had become quite vulnerable. I encourage everyone to check out ETW's look at the changes.
Great leaderboard. Casey, Donald up on top. The 2 Big South Africans, Els and Goose, are within a 2-3 shots. Howell, Olazabal, and a few other prominent Euros are in contention. Only unfortunate thing is the greens are not in good shape. You see the ball bouncing a bit.
I am surprised by Paul Casey's excellent run of form.
He has been right up there the last 2 weeks and he's shaping up to be in the hunt again.
Can he finish stronger this time though. He's faltered a bit down the stretch, actually he's faltered alot down the stretch the last 2 times.
He is certainly close to securing his Ryder Cup slot though.

Disappointing for both, but 3 good rounds to go maybe.
I think Stenson looks like he's capable of winning on any given week, on either side of the pond. Don't know a whole lot about him, but the few times I've gotten to watch him play he's been impressive.
Anybody know what the TV coverage of this tourney will consist of here in the U.S.? Late night Golf Channel?
EDIT: Looks like mid-morning Golf Channel fare - 10a.m. live coverage! I counted my time zones backwards!

Reason: Answered my own question!
I`m hoping to go to Wentworth today, or tomorrow I`ve been fortunate enough to get some `inside-the-ropes` tickets from a friend so I`m looking forward to get up close to the action...

Paul Casey lost by one shot on the 18th to a superp pitch by Thomas that placed the ball within 10 feet and followed with a good putt.
I would n't call that as faltering alot down the stretch to use your words.
