I would n't call that as faltering alot down the stretch to use your words.
Casey did three putt the last green, that is faltering in my book.

Wind is eating a lot of guys up today. Ernie's already backing up. Not too many guys are under par for the day.

I think we would all agree that he definetely faltered the week before, when he had a 3 shot lead, and went bogey, double bogey, bogey.

As regards the Nissan, he was in contention most of the time, and like JungleJ, I'd call it a falter, but only a very minor one.
We shouldn't be too hard on someone for 3 putting one hole, it's not like he did a Van de Velde on it.

In any case, he is a very good player and should be in the reckoning again.

How long was the putt in the first place? 60-80 ft? Three putting from that distance it is quite normal. He could have done a little better with his first putt but considering the kind of weather they had for four days, it was extremely difficult to judge pace.

Agreed with that.

I had a great day at Wentworth today, despite the weather! I put a bet on Jimenez at 40/1 before he teed off (10/1 for first 4 finish) so I had a vested interest in him, and followed him for most of his round!

Observations...!

On the driving range it was awesome to see how effortlessly these guys hit the ball, it was a real eye opener! Luke Donald was the most impressive on the range, but it didn`t translate to a good day on the course. Meanwhile Jimenez spent most of his free time smoking cigars on the range, yet he went on to shoot a 65 on the course!

Other observations on the range, (that you don`t notice on the television)....three things struck me as I watched the professionals hitting golf balls- Firstly, none of them lunged at the ball with fury, but the ball sails into the horizon likes it`s been shot from a cannon! Secondly, they all have a straight left arm throughout the swing, somehow this must be how they generate so much torque!...and lastly, most of them (especially Luke Donald) place the clubhead with the hosel right beside the ball....how they don`t sh**k the ball everytime I just don`t know

BTW, For the horse Racing fans, I had to drive through Ascot today to get to nearby Wentworth!!! and WOW, The rebuilt racecourse stands were open for the first time, and the place looks fantastic, Royal Ascot is going to be mind blowing this year , and I can`t wait until the rest of the chameleons go there later this year ....Ascot Race course is back where it belongs, one of the best horse racing tracks in the world

Anyhow, I might be going to Wentworth again tomorrow , the greens aren`t spectacular, but the course looks more challenging, with it now being a strikers course as opposed to previously steering it around the course!

C-B-C...

Good round for Harrington to put him tied for 5th. Hopefully he can put in another good round, but given the way he has been playing he has been finding it hard to put 2 good rounds together.

Great win for Howell, he mastered it from day 1.

The event carries twice as many WR points as the Fed Ex St Jude.with 4 of world's top ten, it was a strong field that he lapped.

Congrats CBC. You won some money on Jimenez. Too bad he didn't chase Howell down but David played excellently.

Thanks emc, but as you say Howell was too strong for Jimenez!

I went to Wentworth both Saturday and Sunday and really enjoyed watching these guys battle it out! David Howell is getting better and better as a player, and comes across as a nice bloke too! I noticed he spent ages signing autographs at Wentworth, far longer than most others...! For Tiger Woods to call David Howell `The Cool Guy` (when they played together in China) it must be a real compliment!

Despite his mauling by Furyk in the singles...I think the Ryder Cup was very important to the development of Howell`s game and self confidence!

Howell's win moves him into the world Top 10 now, but shunts Luke Donald down to 11th. Great win for Howell especially as he has had some troublesome injuries recently. He's now on his way to the US for the Memorial and the run in to the US Open.
