Assuming everyone wants to see the best two sides with their strongest teams, who do you think should be there?
Europe : USA
Sergio Tiger
Monty Phil
Luke Donald Jim Furyk David Howell Chad Campbell
Darren Clarke DAvid Toms
Paddy Harrington DL3
Paul McGinley Freddie
Stenson Di MArco
JM Olazabal Abelosterwhatsit
Casey JB Holmes Lee Westwood Brad Bryant Thos Bjorn Ryan Moore
I reckon the bold ones would be winners making it 3-3 , but the rest would go either way, but I'm sure everyone else would disagree................
Freddie and Lehman struggle with the putter, but have experience. I am slightly indifferent to them, but would prefer the team to finally focus on putting skills. I hope Kenny Perry just does not amass points to get in.
Who cares who plays for the Euros? They seem to do just fine with 12 randomly selected players.
I wanna see the bombers out there (Bubba Watson, JB Holmes, JD, Brett Wetterich, Jason Zuback). Par 4 375...Driver. That would scare the shizzy out of those Euros. Oh... one more thing. This should probably be a part of another post, but shouldn't it be Americas vs. Europe. Europe has all these countries involved with it's Ryder Cup. Why can't we have Central and South Americans (Camillo Villegas) or Canadiens (Mike Weir)? I'm not saying they should be part of the team but US should have a wider variety to pick from. And isn't Vijay a US citizen already?
I was wondering about the citizenship thing because Michael Campbell applied for dual citizenship to the UK so he could qualify for the Ryder Cup. Seems unfair about the Americas because ye are the biggest golfing nation in the world. Would love to see Europe-v-Internationals though, exciting stuff
everyone was talking about how Europe needed to win the 1995 Ryder Cup team, or people would lose interest in it. I wonder now if the U.S. needs to win this year's Ryder Cup, or people will lose interest in it. It certainly needs to be closer than last year's Ryder Cup, or the Ryder Cup is in trouble.
I would love John Daly to make it just to spark things up a bit. I find the Ryder cup to be a bit to Starchy stiff white collared.
As far as the Euros go, we always seem to do fine with whoever the top 12 are without the captain doing something goofy with the captains pick. Top 12 on the order of merrit it shall be. (I would kind of like to see Langer one more time though)
Cast your mind back to the President's Cup - di Marco was anchor man and he kept a rampant Apples at bay - under enormous pressure, he was the difference between success and failure. He should be an automatic pick for guts alone.
Thomas Bjorn is next in line, breathing hard down the necks of Broadhurst and Dougherty. Big name players needing to start getting it done are Harrington, Clarke, Poulter, Westwood, Jimenez.
Stenson, Olazabal, Garcia, and Monty probably have their places iced already. I expect Harrington will start moving up shortly. One of Broadhurst and Dougherty and possibly both will fall away.
But with Stenson locked and a newcomer, and Ollie returning to the side, it sure looks like one or two big names from the last team will miss out, even with the captain's picks.

While he's really struggling currently, he does seem to blossom under the format and should be considered as long as he's not too far down the points list.
