I thought the Memorial was this weekend.

I don't watch much golf but never miss the Memorial. I thought it was always Memorial weekend. When did the change take place? Was it a weather issue?

I was all stoked to watch some golf this weekend. Oh well. Lots of yard work to do!!!!

The Memorial has the slot two weeks prior to the US Open locked in via an agreement with the PGA Tour. Whether that falls on the last weekend in May or the first weekend in June depends on the year.

Brian, you can still watch some golf - you'll just have to get up a little earlier. The BMW at Wentworth is on and it is the Euro Tour's #1 event.

Otherwise there's still the same old same old PGA tour.

Actually, physicists were complaing... With all the race fans flocking to Indianapolis, and all the golf fans flocking to Columbus, they feared the change in weight distribution might cause the earth to shift it's axis of rotation...

Actually stl_card has it correct. It is rare that the memorial isn't on memorial day weekend, but this year it just timed out that way.

Just set the VCR, Brian. You wouldn't want to miss the European Tour's premier event, would you?

I'm giddy with excitement.

Isn't Loch Lomand and the British Open the 2 big events?

This event does look good though. Much stronger field that the PGA event this week.

Brian we know it takes a lot to get Canadians excited ... enjoy it!

The course is quite a test too.

I saw that Ernie Els did some major consulting work on the courses. Should be an even tougher tests now.

The Open Championship is not a European Tour event, it's organised by the R&A (similar to the US Open organised by the USGA). The Scottish Open at Loch Lomond is a big event, in no small measure due to it being the week before the Open.

I remember seeing something about this course in a golf magazine. They called it the Augusta National of Scotland.
