Phil currently sits on 29 career TOUR victories as he readies himself for play at this week's Memorial. This is a tournament I've always hoped for Phil to win. It has a great roster of champions, is played on a wonderful course and is hosted by the legendary Golden Bear.
Outside of the four majors, I can't think of a better tournament for Phil to win and join such elite company on the TOUR's all-time victories list.
Take away Tiger and we could be talking about Phil as one of the 10 greatest players to ever play the game right now. As is, it looks like he's set to join some impressive company. I've never been Phil's biggest fan (except when Ryder Cup time rolls around! ) but I respect the talent and drive that man has. Best of luck to him in collecting that 30th victory.

Phil and VJ have had great careers. VJ is going to the hall of fame and Phil will soon. Phil still has a realistic chance at becoming the 6th player tow in a career grand slam. Also, Phil has won majors in each of the last 3 calendar years.
Wasn't his first win the US Open at Oakhill? Maybe 1966 or 67.

29 wins. His 1st was the US Open at 28 &1/2 in 1968 and his last was the PGA at nearly 44 in 1984. A pretty good run considering it was during the primes of Jack, Gary, Watson, Seve, Miller.....I'd rank him about equal with Tom Watson, considering the hard way he came up and the late start he got on the Tour. I figure Phil will wind up with around 40 wins or so before he's through... maybe more and a couple of more majors. He really seems to have it all together now that he knocked that monkey off of his back.
