Cheats in professional golf

This may have been done before i dont know but i was just wondering is there any known cheats in pro golf?
I've heard the story of Vijay Singh and wondered is there anyone else in pro golf known as a cheat?

Antonio Garrido was accused of moving his ball marker on the greens and a Mr Evans was caught dropping a ball down his trouser leg and of course the big talking point, did Rabbit drop a ball at Lytham in 1974 for Mr Player.

A lot of people believe it was true, but I have never seen Player as a cheat. If it was true, Arnie and Jack would not have been his friends off the course.

Neither have I. There was a well-publicized incident where Player accused another of being a cheat, though. It was well-publicized, though for the life of me, I can't recall the other player.

There was the whole thing last week with the guy who they thought his ball moved on the putting green. I think they said it went back to its original position but it makes you think if maybe it did move and the pro isnt saying anything.

Fact of the matter is, all that we are talking about is here say...except for Tom Pernice, which I am assuming is the cause for this post. His ball definetly moved this thing about it "oscillating" is bull. That thing moved forward and did not seem to come back to rest. And with him playing stupid about how he didn't notice his ball move and he didn't know that it happened is bull too. I know if my club touches my golf ball and I'm just a duffer. It's on video, and for the PGA to act like nothing wrong happened is a shame too. Oh and one more thing...Vijay never was a cheat and never will be. That was something that happened in Australia where an official told him one thing, signed his scorecard, then was told something else and he was disqualified for signing a wrong scorecard.

I also saw the ball move when touched by Pernice's putter, but it did look like it moved back.

I can tell when my club touches the ball, hard to believe Pernice didn't know. If he did know and purposely told the rules official he didn't, shame on him. He has to live with himself.

Whats so good about this game though, is for every alleged "cheating" incident, there are thousands of occasions where golfers police themselves and call strokes on themselves for rules infractions that no one else would ever be aware of.

There may have been a thread on this already, but have any of you ever caught a friend or an opponent cheating? Was it a friendly game or a tournament?

Personally, it's hard to call it cheating, but my buddy and I were playing a friendly round of golf when I saw something. He was hitting from a bunker and he didn't ground his club, but when he moved it back to start his backswing, he moved just the slightest bit of sand...kind of smoothed it a little. I made a flip comment about it and he said, "I didn't touch the sand, did I?" I don't think he realized he did it and it was a friendly game, so I didn't say anything more. We were both having a horrible day as it was, so I didn't really care, but I was wondering if anyone else had run into any issues with cheating.

I think most people (pros and duffers alike) who are serious about the game don't cheat. But some people just can't help themselves ...

Years ago I was playing in our League Championship - me against a guy I knew cheated. On the first hole I spotted him moving his ball in a fairway bunker (I made sure I watched him closely). I confronted him with it, and asked why he moved the ball. He adamantly denied moving the ball. From then on I walked with him to his ball and counted his strokes. I had to remind him a few times that the score he gave me was a stroke less than he actually had. He got annoyed at me, and blamed me for his losing the match! Yeah I guess I was to blame for counting all his strokes. Some people.

The key words here are "it moved back". NO penalty, no shame He did nothing wrong!

Last year, Colin Montgomerie, with the marking of his ball in the sand trap. Seems he got a better lie the next day.

TV pictures suggested that Gary's ball entered the rough about 30ft from where it was found and Gary himself questioned Rabbit with "are you sure this is my ball?"
There was never any question of Gary cheating but did Rabbit drop a ball is the question.

It is also passed around that a member of Lytham found a Penfold Gary Player ball in the same area the following day.
