4par, 4par, 4par, 3par.
level par so far. Great par save on first hole, but missed some decent birdie chances on next couple of holes. Lovely shot on hole 4, but missed a very makable birdie putt.
How is she doing compared to the field? Also, does anyone know how many will qualify from this group?
From what I've gotten from the Golf Channel website, it seems Michelle could have been -2 after five, with decent putting.
best score through 9 holes is -5, thats on the north course, best score through 9 on the south course is -3.
Michelle is on the south course.
18 qualify out of the field of 153.
I think she would maybe have to be about 2-3 under to qualify.
I think she would do great if she just got level par.
She needs to be a few under to have a shot. 6600 yards is nothing for these guys. I expect quite a few to go low.
There are hard courses though. About 2 under has always made it in previous years.
She has gone one under, with a birdie on the par 5, 6th hole.
I think she is doing just great so far. I still don't expect her to qualify, but I'm glad she is bringing excitement to those good enough to come out and watch her attempt.
Personally, I don't have a problem with her qualifying for a men's tournament. Actually, I prefer that she qualify, rather than be given an exemption. If she qualifies, then she really did earn the spot and deserves it. I don't like the idea of giving a woman an exemption to a men's PGA tour event because that takes away a spot from a man trying to earn a living at this. She's not a member of the PGA Tour (or LPGA for that matter). However, if she qualifies for a tournament by beating others in a qualifying tournament, then good luck to her (or any other person).
I'd be surprised if she qualifies, but that's just because I don't think her putting is quite good enough for tournament play yet. She really needs to work on her putting, IMO.
