Wie might have had good luck with her early tee time yesterday. The ladies that didn't finish their rounds will have to finish them today along with their 3rd round. It's going to be a lot windier today (20 mph with up to 37 mph gusts). Pat Hurst, Ochoa, Annika, etc. will have to play a round and a half in that weather. Wie has a chance to be within a stroke of the lead after the 2nd round is fully completed. She's 3 back of the leader Hurst at this time.
Fatigue could also play a role, particularly with Hurst who has 28 holes to play today and apparantly has very sore feet and isn't exactly in shape.
Anyhting Short of a Win for Wie Has to be Disappointing
As many top 3 finishes as she has had in the LPGA, Michelle has to feel that only a win would enhance her credentials. She is developing the reputation of bridesmaid for the LPGA, and that cannot be good even if she is 16. She made be only 16, but how many 16 year-olds have a $10 million contract. NIKE is probably wanting her to win an LPGA event right now.
This morning as the ladies trying to finish the second round, scores are getting higher and as a result Wie rises up to tie for third. Hopefully, Wie will be able to get advantage of her break while other players are tired from playing 27 holes. Especially the overweight Pat Hurst.
That about wraps up the 2nd round. Wie is in a tie for 4th place at -5. Two are at -6 and Hurst is at -7. Hopefully Hurst has rough 3rd round so we don't have to watch her on TV on Sunday. Her swing is as ugly as it gets (sorry, had to say it).
Wie is ahead of every one of the big names that people earlier in this thread said she'd finish behind. No idea if she'll continue to play this well, but she does seem to be in contention for every major she plays in and finishes 2nd or 3rd most of the time.
Unlike many of the other big name players that only seem to be in contention occasionally. Creamer and Gulbis for example barely made the cut. Ochoa and Sorenstam are both in the hunt as expected. Great tourney so far.

I think she will finish 2nd or 3rd again. If she gets in position to win or near that position, she will find a way not to win like miss a short putt or mess up a chip shot or bunker shot. She is the big time bridesmaid of the LPGA. She's had the most top 2/3 finishes of any nonwinner on the LPGA.

That's just proof that she's one of the best golfers in the world. Add in the fact that she's the youngest golfer to contend this well in majors and you end up with the undeniable conclusion that Wie is within a year or two of winning on a regular basis. Probably winning more than anyone else on the LPGA. That's just what the evidence points to. You can decide that she's a 16 year old brides maid if you want to, but you are ignoring the obvious.
