A 15 year old from Hawaii Qualifies for the U.S. Open

There is not nearly the hoopla that a 15 year old teenage boy made it to the U.S. Open as they was for a 16 year old girl not making it. Is it because he is a male? He is a year younger than the 16 year old every one is talking about. maybe that's why many people are sick of hearing about her. Why not give him the expsoure she has?

Would a 15 year old boy not be making history in the US Open? What is the youngest that someone has qualified?

Ah, League...you could've let everyone believe that you have an encyclopedic knowledge of golf history.

Yeah, I was going to Google...but I figured "Why not, when I know League will look it up for me?"

Actually I posted a thread about this right after I saw that he won in Hawaii.

I guess the New York Times just didn't pick the story up early enough to bounce Michelle from the front page after she "just missed"...

But he lacks ovaries. So nobody cares.
I hope he plays well.

I doubt Tadd would have qualified from New Jersey, but good luck to him in the US Open. Winged foot is going to be very difficult for seasoned pros not to mind him. Hopefully he breaks 80, at least one of his two rounds.
By the way, I'd be hoping the same for Michelle.

Tadd will win the US Open, beating Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in a playoff.

Tadd Fujikawa is the reason that Wie didn't try to qualify in Hawaii, how big of a hit would Wie have taken to lose to a 15 year old boy who is 5 ft 1 inch, let alone seasoned pros

Definetely right.

Although then why wasn't she also afraid to lose to him when she went up against him in local qualifying.

Local qualifying was not an issue because it wasn't the sectional in which only one person gets to qualify in Hawaii,

In Hawaii, she ran the risk of having all that publicity around her and then lose, and all the attention would turn to Fujikawa, taking away from her, while giving to him.

That is purely speculation. We won't know, since he didn't feel a need to find close proximity to the New York media.

Who knows, maybe he can make a three footer...
