I'm predicting that Tiger won't even make the cut and an Australian will win.

Does anyone have the comment or link to it where Phil mentioned something about "...Tiger's number 1 and I beat him so where does that put me?"? I think he said this the week of the US Open.

I haven't heard anything like that and it sure doesn't sound like him. I'd think if Phil had said something that provocative it would have received wider exposure. Until I see a link or some proof, "I'm from Missouri".

It was in one of his TV interviews and wasn't said exactly like that. The question was something to the effect that if he won the US Open, did he think he would be the best player in the world right now, whatever the rankings say. He gave some kind of polite answer to the effect that it would seem that if he won, he'd be the best right now but Tiger was still the man to beat.

im guessing u mean at the moment, and i couldnt disagree with you there.
but the best player in the world is tiger woods and will be for long time yet. mickelson will never be ranked #1 in the world all the time tiger is about, which explains to me who is the best, not just now, but most probably the best player to ever hit a golf ball.

Just read this little fact on yahoo sports...

"Mickelson has now finished second at four of the last eight U.S. Opens, losing all of them on the final three holes. Draw your own conclusions."
