For the guys wondering what the PGA players would look like in shorts, there dress code states slacks. You can wear knickers also, but your socks are to cover the rest of your leg. I don't think they have changed the dress code with the exception of the "shirt must have a collar" rule, and facial hair rules.

They are not allowed to play even the practice rounds in shorts. They have changed in some areas though. Male club professionals were not supposed to show up at member clubs (having a head pro) wearing shorts.

Actually, it was interesting that MW was able to wear Capri length pants at the Open Qualifier. The rules have always been stated in a manner similar to PGA rules. No bear leg.

And what a silly, archaic rule it is.

The thread is on thin ice betwen sexism and racism.

The growth of Korean golf has been remarkable ,and matched the decline of European ladies golf. The ladies are remarkable for their talent and hard work, if they happen to be attractive ,good luck to them (and their partners).

Leaguegolf,
Here in California, I work for a Tech Company as a Senior Engineer. I’m wearing shorts right now. The Boss is out of town. What a chicken.

The hardest working golfers I know are a group of about 6 women here. I practice or play almost daily, and they are always there before and after I am...good for them and good for the LPGA as I watch primarily to see the very clean technique that many of the women use...they can't get away with cheating in their swings to generate power.

Do you work outside? hmmmm. I bet you work in an office. People around here that work outside in the 100 degree heat wear shorts on a regular basis. Its not apples and apples two totally different things.

Well we've had a couple of negative responses to this thread from a couple of guys whose judgement I greatly respect, well usually. My take - The thread title could be interpreted in a derogatory manner, but any fair reading of the initial post reveals that the poster has nothing but respect and admiration for the Korean golfers and meant it in a light-hearted fashion. As for sexism, I don't think there is anything wrong with celebrating the fact that there are many attractive females in the LPGA currently, Korean and others. I think that our members have expressed their admiration in a mostly tasteful manner. I don't think we've had to edit or trash a post here yet. I gaurantee you that the Korean golfers would not be troubled by this sort of interest. Both subjects, the emergence of an inordinate number of great Korean women golfers and the need for the LPGA to have and promote its more attractive members have been analyzed many times in respectable pubications (Golf Digest, SI, etc.). Both are valid topics for discussion here, IMO, a long as everyone bears in mind at we have many female and younger members and color their comments accordingly. I'd still rather hang out or play a round with Christina Kim(who is American, BTW)...she seems to be having a great time whatever she's doing.

Indeed I think they would be glad of it.

The photos of Christina Kim at the Solheim weren't the most tasteful IMO. She has lost 30 pounds since then, by the way.

I think a lot of the "looks" changes in the LPGA have to do with the fact the golfers have now realized how important nutrition, stretching and strength training are. Ignore those and you'll quickly go from LPGA to Driving Range Golf Instructor.

It's archaic, and goes back to the snobbish roots of golf.

Actually my company allows us to where shorts to work between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

It gets awfully hot down here in Texas in the summer months.

On another note how many of us have jobs that require us to be outside often during the hottest part of the day in the heat of the summer? The way you dress should in part be based on the conditions in which you work under. I've notice that UPS and FedEx delivery drivers wear shorts and somehow the world hasn't ended.

This has been threadjacked it appears, but anyway...The question noboby has asked is why is it acceptable for the women to wear shorts and not the men? I know they are governed by different bodies, but the point is valid.

Long pants are almost always better... light , long pants. Unless you have someone hunting for your balls... a caddy, say ... you need long pants.
