Is this Carnoustie all over again?

The last time I remember first round scores this bad was the British Open in 1999 where the winning score was +6. Looking at the weather forecast, no rain expected and winds are supposed to blow pretty hard again on Saturday. This could get ugly come Saturday and Sunday. The champion could end up being the one that survives.

I actually like this style of golf! It makes my mid 70's feel much better even though we all know I dont play courses quiet as hard as Winged Foot!

Carnasty was certainly quite the spectacle...remember Rod Pampling's claim to fame until recently was having the first round lead there and then proceeding to miss the cut. I don't see this as being quite so severe, although the winning score may be near that number.
