Camilo Villegas' "Spiderman" pose

OK, so what is he doing? He is trying to read the break of the greens by getting physically as close to the ground as possible? But sometimes he does it when he's not even on the green. Is he trying to freak out his opponents? Also no one else on the professional tours seems to find the 'Spiderman' necessary to read a putt. I guess very few of them would be capable of this maneuver without massive groin injury, but that still does not quite explain it. Opinions ?

thats just the way he reads some of his putts, dont ask me why as i couldnt tell you, obviously he's just thinking that getting closer to the deck shows the line better for him, again dont even ask why he does it in such a way as he does, but i suppose theres a reason for it somewhere.

I heard from an article that Camilo's brother stated that he does it because he's a neat freak and doesn't want to dirty his pants. Not sure if this was said jokingly or if he was serious.

Yes that and its a good way to read putts. Thats why you see some players get down in a trap so they are at eye level. Cory Pavin used to get low but Camillo has a unique way of doing it.

A German ( I think) playing in the European tour goes flat on his belly to read putts.

Well I'd start doing it if I could play like the guy. Someone that could spank me by at least 10 shots or more on every course we play can do what he wishes.

I don't lay on the ground, but I'll kind of squat forward to get my head closer to the ground. It's a heck of a lot easier to read the slope.
