I have some concerns about the way female golf (and support of) is heading. Lets face it, there are quite a few who are only kids (yes I know they look older, but that doesnt change anything). Obviously the slightly older players (as noted) are very much into the fashion parade, which isnt a bad thing necessarily. However, I have seen a marked increase in the masculine comments which cannot have come from anywhere else and I have seen plenty enough of them coming from adult males directed towards the very young players. Im sorry but I think that the increase in lustful comments about 16/17yo girls is something which should be a concern to the LPGA (and is a worrying population trend).
......all of the young LPGA " Superstars" have a long way to go. You see who won the tournament Saturday. The older , more experienced woman golfers are out playing the young , fashion super-models who are golf wanna-be's. Too many younger golfers are more worried about their golf outfits, ear-rings, scarves, etc.
Some good points, mosf of the leaders were mature players
1st Annika - 35 years old
2nd Pat Hurst - 37 years old.
3rd Michelle - 16 years old.
3rd Se Ri Pak - 28 years old.
3rd Stacy Prammanasudh - 26 years old.
6th Juli Instker - 46 years old.
However, it was a very difficult course. That is why most of the younger player just couldn't keep pace. That type of course will tend to bring the more experienced players to the business end of the tournament.

Why take her as an example. She is the only one of the young players who contended for the title.

What do you mean amount to anything? Paula Creamer has already won 2 tournaments.
If you mean win majors, I have no problem, prediction a major win for Michelle Wie in that timeframe, even in cautious mode.
On the prizemoney thing, in tennis, of the 4 grandslams, the 3 other than Wimbledon offer equal prize money for men and women. There is arguments about Wimbledon, but the difference really is small.
Mens winner 655,000 pounds sterling.
Womens winner 625,000 pounds sterling.
In those events though, the mens and womens are part of the same tournament, I don't think this will happen in golf.
But take normal womens tournament versus normal mens tournaments.
The women still earn huge money.
Like other posters, I think the women won't catch mens prize money. However I think it will grow substantially. The top women are well paid as it is.

Well welcome to reality, buns. AFAIK, Michelle is the only one of the younger gals who is not an adult, FWIW. The sports viewing public is overwhelmingly male. Males enjoy watching attractive females do their thing. I imagine there are many women who have favorites players , not necessarily based on their ability (Villegas is my daughter's fav ) It is and always will be that way, which is why womens tennis is also popular. We try to keep a lid on the MW lustful comments here because of her age, but she doesn't exactly discourage that sort of attention, playing in wear such as that blue micro-skirt she wore this weekend.
wazmankg is right about the looks factor.
Indeed Michelle is the only girl under 18, so there is plenty of others to look at.
Shi Hyn Ahn, Grace Park, Paula Creamer, Natalie Guilbis, Pat Hurst, Mi Hyn Kim, Ai Miyazato and many more.
Waz mentioned womens tennis. There is alot more cleavage on show there. I assume that is against lpga dress code, because if it wasn't Natalie would probably be only too willing.
That's something I'm glad isn't on show in womens golf. I think that would be taking it too far. Just my opinion.

Michelle Wie was the youngest of the 3 Hawiaans playing, I have read about others of similar age (perhaps not playing in the latest US Open though). The female comparison unfortunately doesn't work, because it is pretty rare for a mature woman to be as open about it as men tend to be, and they most certainly dont comment about males of that age...
It just bugs me because I know when I have a teenage daughter, the last thing i want to hear is lustful comments about her, most certainly when we would be talking about those who are old enough to be her parent! I have heard more than enough double standards by men on this, you cant go making comments about one 16 year old, then get all threatening when you hear it about your own!
Okay, even so, I don't know of anyone who was commenting on the look of the other players. I hope they weren't. That certainly wouldn't be on.
I dont specifically mean on here. I didnt mean to give that impression. But there is a trend that with Gulbis (for instance) doing glamour shots, that those around her can be considered in the same light.
I am a bit old fashioned I guess. Im just concerned that impressionable girls are going to get opinions made to them and I guess also that Im concerned that it may only be a matter of time until we here idiots shouting out things like 'show us......' (you get the idea) on an lpga course.

I know what you mean, but I think Guilbis will be considered seperately as she should be. I don't think there is anyone else like her on the lpga tour. Not one of the top players anyway.
I don't think that any of the younger women golfers under 25 years of age will amount to anything for at least 5 years, or more, until they get more experience , and mature. And for the LPGA , they need to boost the winner's earnings on the tournaments. It's a shame what the women take home for winning, as compared to the men. There , I've opened a bigger can of worms for everyone. Enjoy , .....Slicer
I see Michelle Wie and Paula Creamer really comming on in the next two to three years. I don't think it's going to take five years for either golfer to start asserting themselves on the LPGA Tour. And let's not forget about Lorena Ochoa, she's already making her mark this year.

Creamer can really play, i still dont think though anyone other then Tiger has the overall skill of Michelle Wie, she has ALL the shots, thats what seperates her from the field.. not the scoring factors, that will come.. but Michelle Wie hits the stingers, draws, fades, high spinners.. she has all of those
