Womens Matchplay Championship

I had intended doing a detailed topic before the tournament about possible matchups, but was a bit busy.

Some exciting possible matchups:
3rd Round: Michelle Wie could play Se Ri Pak. Also Se Ri Pak could be playing Natalie Guilbis in the 2nd round if they both win their 1st round matches.

Annika and Michelle as 1 and 2 seeds wouldn't meet until the final. So it is unlikely to happen.

Paula Creamer is due to meet Morgan Pressel in the 3rd round if they both got through. They are in Annika's side of the draw, so neither could potentially meet Wie until the final.

By the way Shi Hyun Ahn pulled out with a back injury, so that gave Laura Diaz a free pass into the 2nd round.

No TV coverage? I don't get it, why doesn't the GOLF Channel have live coverage of tournaments. Right now you have the Western Open and the Matchplay championship, and neither of them are on TV at all! I mean, it is the GOLF Channel. Why don't they have tournaments on instead of those darn infomercials? Especially since this Matchplay is HUGE and all the best players are there, and at the Cialis you have the likes of Tiger and Phil.

4 biridies in a row for Michelle.
That's 4 up through 7 holes.

Morgan Pressel and Sarah Lee are level through 17 holes.
A Morgan v's Paula 3rd round would be very interesting.

Great facts Jim. Particularly interesting the number of veteran players.

Michelle won 5 & 3.
She was down 2 after 2 holes.
She had a good stretch of 5 biridies in 6 holes, which was the deciding factor.

Some notable losers in the first round matches:
[7] Yuri Fudoh
[10] Ai Miyazato
[9] Jeong Jang
[11] Hee-Won Han
[18] Natalie Gulbis
[20] Julieta Granada
Pat Hurst against Reilley Rankin has gone to a playoff.

ive gone with Pressel this week, could be some tough matches involving her if she advance's through round 2 (round 2 should be pretty tough infact).

yeah but was 3 down at one point and won 4 in a row. i think a tough first round can be a good thing sometimes anyway, i expect her to win her next match and see how it goes from there.

Looks like the favorites are all winning this morning, with the exception of Christie Kerr who is 2 down in her match. It's setting up for some exciting weekend matchups.

A Creamer versus Pressel 3rd round would be an exciting contest, with both players really wanting bragging rights.

Creamer looks to be in better form, but match play is hard to predict.

Annika and Michelle are now AS in their matches...Kerr did fall, Se Ri still trails and Lorena Ochoa is down big in her match.
