As the teams stand, the Americans could be in for nearly as big a whippin as the last Ryder Cup. The usa has 5 players on the team, the other 5 are not experienced enough and generally not good enough. You should hope the lineup for the team changes dramatically before the competition starts.

The usa needs some players with experience so that they may put on a decent showing.
Its to disgrace to me as an American if a dozen over paid, pampered, egomaniacs get their**** handed to them by a whole continent.

I love how people talk all this trash when your (Europe) team is made up of the best of numerous nations.

How 'bout we play U.S. vs. "any country", then we'll who wins.

Bit harsh I think.
The reason why we're even talking about the Ryder Cup now is because it was made more competitive by opening up to the rest of Europe.
Otherwise it would still be the bi-annual 'lets lose to the Americans' event.
Lets celebrate the fact that it has become the great sporting event it has and that us golfing fans look forward to the encounter every time - win or lose.

I'm sure that 300 million against 60million Brits is your idea of a fair contest, it was for over 50 years.

Ironically, a Ryder Cup against GB&I might produce a tighter finish than the last Ryder Cup.

FYI Europe is the same size as USA people wise ,smaller geographically and has considerably less golfers and golf courses.

Population size doesn't matter. What matters is the number of people playing the game in each country.
At the moment Europe (if you include the whole of Europe) may have a bigger population than the US but the number of people playing the game is substantially lower.

I'd love a return to that format. I think GB&I would still beat the Americans.

The Europeans have not won yet ,so I'm not that confident. British golf relies on too few players to be consistent. Not long ago, England only had one player in the top 100,Westwood. Now we have Howell,Donald,Casey,Poulter,Rose ,Ferrie and some more coming through.

Why do you want better odds than 60 to 300? The British Empire was put together against far greater odds.
